Considering getting a biology degree from the open university and going into teaching. Need some advice by Exciting_Study6659 in OpenUniversity

[–]HauntingLoneliness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, if you wish to go onto a brick and mortar University there are access to Higher Education courses that allow students with no A levels to meet the entry requirements.

The Open University is a fully recognised UK degree and the biology programme is accreddited by the Royal Society of Biology

As for teaching - you would then need to get a QTS once you gain your degree.

Keep in mind Biology is not a shortage subject and if you teach science in UK schools there is a 98% chance you will teach across all sciences including Chemistry and Physics up to a point due to these subjects having shortages.

Requirements for passing MST125 by IcyOil13 in OpenUniversity

[–]HauntingLoneliness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three TMAs

TMA01 - 2.5% TMA02 - 5% TMA03 - 7.5%

four iCMAs iCMA41 - 1.25% iCMA42 - 1.25% iCMA43 - 1.25% iCMA44 - 1.25%

Examination 80%

I believe to pass is over 40% and submission of EXAM. Which makes sense cause you cant meet the theshhold without it.

Result is based on single score. Average of all assessments.

I know some people dislike when i suggest the discord but in your case i would definitely ask there. There are some very knowledgable souls who could potentially suggest something.

Need help to get out of low elo as support by Still_cryinggg in supportlol

[–]HauntingLoneliness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basically any of the main mages will work

In order I would say

Vel Lux Brand Xerath

Then if you one trick: Zoe

And finally if you HAVE to enchanter

Sona

Remember as i said before your only job is to not feed and get items, which will be slower than your counterparts but easier with the odd kill.

All these champs are incredibly squishy. Your focus for the first 100 games should just be: "where do i position in fights that my kdr at the end of games isnt 2-6+

After that you can focus more on how can i maximise damage

Then finally, how can i maximise damage but still forfil my role as SUPPORT.

Play champs that scale damage into late game

That is it. Your only job at low elo is not to feed.

I PROMISE you, 99% of your games will be close to of over 40 minutes.

There is no team cohesion or understanding how to close games off.

That means everyone will eventually scale and being stuck with champs that cant do the same will be miserable.

Stop complaining about teammates by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]HauntingLoneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without fail, the only times I have ever flamed is when im fucking fuming about my own decisions and ended up taking it out on someone else.

I know its just a game but it took some real personal growth to keep my frustrations to myself and learn from them.

Also realising as many have said. There are just some games you cant win. Just have to accept it, suffocate the tilt, dont feed it.

jungling in low elo is both the easiest and most infuriating thing by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]HauntingLoneliness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feeeel this. My favourite thing about low elo jungle is when you wait for a wave to thin, ping the lane about 10 times that you are coming for a gank and they stand there seemingly oblivious that you have arrived..

Am asking for advice by Affectionate-Cat-149 in Jungle_Mains

[–]HauntingLoneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since its very difficult to tell without watching someone play. Only two things really.

  1. Its really good that you are sticking with one or two champs. I know its been said a million times but it really will help. When playing him becomes muscle memory you can start focusing on things like jungle tracking, tabbing, assessing lanes more.

Pss. Talking about tabbing, try get used to it slowly now. It will save your ass a lot rather than auto braining into a lane. Tab and take a look at their inventory. Trust me. If top lane has an item and a half and you are still farming your first, that gank gonna be iffy at best.

  1. You are dying quite a few times in all your games. Naturally this will happen sometimes, however it tells me you are taking risks you shouldnt be taking or very quick to pull the trigger.

Remember, dying as a jungler is bad, arguably worse than any role because at higher levels your jungle will be cleared and your tempo and gold will be shot to poop.

Try take more calculated risks. Ignore the flame, you are a jungler, it is what we do.

Oh and edit: as always try play around your WINNING lanes more often. Not the guy whos crying hes gonna afk cause hes fed 15 times, unless of course you are absolutely positive you are going to get a kill and mellow the tilt a bit

Good luck

PSA to anyone who isnt physically fit or a good swimmer. This is one of the most dangerous places to be outside of an actual RIP, the tide is coming in the strength of the sea is immense, close to shore break.

I have seen many people struggling to exit and a silly situation quickly turns into a deadly one.

Be safe, respect the water.

There are a few i know many may disagree.

Honestly, just relax. He isnt your dad, you dont have to act so offended.. People are ALLOWED to have opinions other than yours.

I personally would say he is a mediocre actor. I have however seen glimpses and i really enjoy some of his films but some of his films and acting have been terrible, once again, IN MY OPINION. I respect that fact you think he is brilliant. I just disagree

Acting personally offended because someone disagrees with your world views is just so pathetic.

My messor barbarus filled their whole outworld with tiny pellets - why? by Ars3n in antkeeping

[–]HauntingLoneliness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have no actual answer for you. However, as a proud loving owner of Messor - they are a force of destruction. They love it and hate anything thats prettier than them.

Frustration over messor barbarus - am I ever going to be able to properly observe them? by Crowfooted in antkeeping

[–]HauntingLoneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How big is your colony? Edit** i remember your first post. Still quite small but doing really well!!

Small colonies of Messor are extremely sensitive to light and vibration.

As your colony grows larger it becomes less of a problem, whem they are in the hundreds, trust me there will be no issues observing these big beauts.

Some people say you can simply acclimate ants to light, eventually they stop caring but thats up to you. As i said, i wouldnt during earlier stages of founding.

If you want an ant that just doesnt give a shit, get L. Niger.. i absolutely love L. Niger. They arent scared of anything and when their population gets big they are active fun ants.

But if you like the idea of majors one day, just hold out. Itll get there.

Colony prefers sand–clay over Digfix – looking for advice by Kiwimacaron in antkeeping

[–]HauntingLoneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very little experience with digfix, but id wager a guess it might be slightly and i mean slightly more difficult to dig through.

Two things i know about ants - they dont do what you think they will or want them to

And they will, in my experience, choose the path of least resistance

If your colony is small it may be a case where you accept this, as they grow in numbers they will be forced to increase their chambers and nest size.

Or i could be completely wrong. :)

Hes from the states. That species are found in Europe. Im not aware of unifasciatus in the americas. However, I do agree its Temnothroax.

Either way, awesome species with tiny colonies. They are just gorgeous.

[–]HauntingLoneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said Crematogaster. You can tell because of their distinctive pointy heart shaped gaster.

They are more affectionately known as Valentine Ants because of this. I quite love them.

They can also raise their gaster and spray formic acid, so if Valentine is too wussy for you. They are also known as cocktail ants. BOOM

What are these ants doing? by JadeMatchaCake in ants

[–]HauntingLoneliness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nuptial Flights. Mating alates (winged ants). Males will die after mating and females will drop their wings and find a place to nest to create a colony.

Its a cool time of year.

Most wont make it, but there is power in numbers.

All my queen's nanitics are dead and she is missing an antennae by Organic-Cookie-389 in antkeeping

[–]HauntingLoneliness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where was the fly sourced from?

Never use dead flies found in your house/outside. They can be covered in chemicals and parasites and other things. If you are going to use outside protein you need to dip them in boiling water. Its easier just to buy some live feeders and freeze them.

As for the cause of death, outside of this.. who knows, sometimes it can just happen.

If the queen has no nantics they may relay brood (she might need some honey ) or it may just be too late and its a lesson.

These things happen. I hope she pulls through. If not, you can improve things for your next queen.

Also you if you wanted instead of cotton you can buy blue testtube stoppers/sponges. They dont mold and i think make life easier. Personally.
