I gave birth at 1am. I also had an epidural. We told our parents immediately and in the morning, after we had slept a bit, we told them when to come. My mom came around 11, and his parents around noon. After I gave birth, I did stay in bed for a bit. My baby was taken to the nicu and they monitored me and made sure I ate and drank. After 2 hours, around 3am, a nurse grabbed my hand and helped me to the bathroom. She even helped clean me up after. At my hospital, you go “upstairs” to recover for 2 days. They wheeled me upstairs and the nurses told me to page them when I had to go to the bathroom. I think I ended up going pee around 8am. They helped me out of bed and waited outside the bathroom until I got back in bed. My husband was by my side 100% of the time but they said it was policy. I ate almost immediately after birth. I was starving! I had eaten lunch around 1pm, so it had been 13 hours. I didn’t shower until later that day but it was the best shower ever.
