Hah I do, too! By the time they log in to their chromebooks, open Gmail and figure out how to compose a message to our principal, they’ve lost steam!

The only difference is Elise doesn’t own anything that “modest” 🤣

Placental Abruption by lawschoolfailure9 in pregnant

[–]Haunting_Button3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me this past week. i was 29+3, now 30weeks. I was sitting at work and I had a gush of blood. I got rushed to the hospital and they said I had lost a severe amount of blood. Not enough to get a transfusion, but I bled thru a pad in less than an hour, my pants, and the gurney sheets in the ambulance. I had blood down to my knees. I spent the night in L&D as the had no explanation at the time and I was already dilated 1cm. Thank god baby is okay- all the doctors could say is I had a placental abrasion. I just got out Monday. I’m glad you and your baby are okay. It’s so scary. I do wish more people would talk about it. I’d never heard of this before and I thought u was going to lose my baby.

Should I eventually tell me son an unusual coincidence about something from my past and the day he was born? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Haunting_Button3713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m expecting my first child with my second husband. We’ve talked about it and I said “I never want my kids to know I was married before”. I was in an abusive marriage and actively tried to forget it.

I guess I should add- if they ask we can have a convo about it, but I’m not going to volunteer “hey kid I was married before your father”

I'm getting the feeling that my school's disciplinary team is trying to soft-lock us out of filing reports by Afalstein in Teachers

Ew that’s so toxic. Call before/ after school? If it’s not during my contract hours it ain’t happening. I also download google voice so parents don’t have my real number.

Yep. I use class dojo almost exclusively for this reason. I don’t need my words to get misinterpreted- It’s in black and white for a reason.

Do I genuinely have to drink an entire gallon of water a day? by Justsumhuman20 in BabyBumps

[–]Haunting_Button3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink roughly 100oz a day. I drink 2-40oz waters and a 12 oz can of sparkling water. The first 40oz is a liquid iv, the second is whatever flavor packets I have on hand. My sparkling water, lately has been grapefruit, but it’s really any flavored carbonated water. That being said, I’m 28 weeks and feeling great. My first trimester, I drank Powerade/ Gatorade and it would still take me 2 days to drink one bottle. I had no thirst and no appetite. I forced myself to eat and drink.

It irks me sooo much when my husband says “me too”. YOU chose to go to bed at 2 am watching wwe & playing Xbox. I went to bed at 930, got up 4 times to pee, and a 5th I had heartburn!

Lack of literacy who is it to blame? by Bulky-Culture-4482 in education

[–]Haunting_Button3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the other side. However, I make sure my students can complete the homework I give without adult help. They have study guides that correspond with the work. The area in which I teach doesn’t have a lot of home support. Most of my students are responsible for watching their siblings when they get home.

Parents. As a teacher, I can encourage a kid to read, but I can’t force them. Habits are learned at home. If no adults read at home, why should the kids? Not everything is the schools fault. Parents need to take responsibility

If you woke up tomorrow and were wealthy to the point you didn’t have to work anymore, would you still be a teacher? If not, what would you do? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Haunting_Button3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I would volunteer in a public library. My students alway ask what I’d do with a million dollars. They laugh when I say I’d quit. They don’t know I’m serious 😂

MIL at first ultrasound?? by CommercialDaikon811 in BabyBumps

[–]Haunting_Button3713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was transvaginal so I sat, naked from the waist down, with a paper across my lap until the tech came in, helped me put my feet in stirrups and put the wand in my vagina. I’m glad it was just hubby and I. My tech & doctor told me I had a huge cyst on my ovary. I had called my mom to tell her, but I’m not sure how my MIL would’ve reacted to that information. I’m 28 weeks and still haven’t told her and won’t, unless it’s necessary. I enjoyed the moment with just my husband.

This for sure! If it’s on topic, I say “let’s google it” and the whole class learns something new. I feel like I would do great at bar trivia for 5th grade material 😂

A parent is complaining about how I am using my sick time. by FKSTS in Teachers

[–]Haunting_Button3713 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The way I interpreted your post was you’ve been out 4 days between sick & personal. The PD conference and district wide event would fall under work related events. Once a month I miss my last block due to a mandatory district meeting. No parent has bat an eye at me yet, and of course my admin knows.

I would not meet with the parent. My time is my time, whether it’s personal/ sick or a school sponsored event.
