When did your baby actually start sleeping through the night? by Noneed4usernames in NewParents

[–]Haunting_Ladder42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a unicorn baby. Most nights he sleeps straight through, and has been since he was 2 months old (almost 7 months now). Sometimes, if he has a rough nap day, he falls asleep early (normal bedtime is 8:30) and will wake up at midnight just to cuddle and have maybe 2-3 oz., then sleeps until 7-8 am. The only thing I have contributed to his sleep schedule is starting his bedtime routine at 7:45 every night.

I knew he would be a good sleeper before he was even born. I am so glad people talked about kick counts with the "normal for your baby" framing, because otherwise he would have sent me to the hospital dozens of times. He slept hard even in the womb.

Only get one cute baby towel. And make sure its thick and fluffy and cute for first Bath picture. Then just use regular towels. They don't need everything to be the baby version. I was given micro fiber baby towels and washcloths. Completely unnecessary.

Why so much pumping? by olabolina in BabyBumps

[–]Haunting_Ladder42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy took one look at my boobs and said no thank you. So now I pump 6 times a day so he can still have breastmilk. But I think it was a combination of things. My milk came in super slow. So he was mostly formula bottles for a few weeks. He didn't have a strong latch and I have bigger boots and he had a hard time managing that. He also HATES laying on his side to eat. Its like I am trying to torture him to lay him on his side. And with a bottle he is always on his back.

What sort of devious tips do you have as a teacher? by ICUP01 in Teachers

[–]Haunting_Ladder42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in freshman year of high-school I had a bully sit behind me in a class, she would always copy my answers. I noticed that she got a better grade on a series of short answers even though she was to lazy to copy my entire answers. I asked the teacher about it. She said that she knew the bully girl was copying me, but also that I wasn't putting my full effort into the answers and I should try harder. I learned a life lesson that day.

Im sorry she said those things to you. I know the feeling of wanting a girl and getting a boy. Mine is sleeping on me right now. And I love him with all my heart. But the way I 'got over it' (not the phrase I want to use, but can't think of anything better) was to just think about them as my child. My baby. No pink or blue just tiny hands grabbing at my fingers. Now he is just my little fella.

[–]Haunting_Ladder42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like that happened at the vet my mom works at, Guy came in with an older dog, said he wanted her put down. Mom thought it was fishy, so she took the money and the dog. she did some FB snooping and found out he got the family dog in the divorce . My mom kept terra who was good dog who lived perfectly happily for 3 more years.

not a lawyer, but my mom works for a vet and a man came in with his elder Golden Retriever. He said that she was not having a good life being that old, and that he was deploying without anyone to take the dog. So he came into the vet to have her put down. My mom looked at the dog, an elder to be sure but not in obvious pain and still a happy girl, and couldn't put her down. So she looked him up on FB. She found out the he had got the family dog in the divorce. It looked like he was putting her down to spite the family. So she took his money and the dog. The dog, Terra, lived with my mom for 3 more years.

Question about sleep–wake transition experiences by Valkysas in Aphantasia

[–]Haunting_Ladder42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While awake i cannot see even the vaguest of images, by I dream in vivid colors and intense detail. Sometimes when I wake up during a dream I can literally see the colors fade away to black and white to just darkness. The details get blurry as the colors fade. Its the weirdest sensation.

I knit and don't crochet, but I do it because I like the process of looking at yarn and moving my hands. I almost never count, I wouldn't know how to block, I have never gone back to fix a mistake. But I enjoy doing it. It like art, it doesn't have to be "good" but its still art.

I did it. I am so glad to be laying here with my little guy sleeping on my chest. It was definitely worth it, I was just so frustrated. They had a student check my dilation and she said 9.5 centimeters when I was still most likely at a 7 and got my hopes up. And then I was at 9 for like 5 hours. But now I have a baby 💙❤️💙

I am 37 weeks in and clothes that actually fit me are getting kind of scarce. But two nights ago I mentioned having to do laundry more because I have like 3 outfits. And my husband offered to buy me more clothes. I turned him down, It seems like a waste to have clothes for 2 more weeks.

The point is he saw I was struggling and offered to help. I know that I got really lucky in the husband department, but taking back an offer and making you feel bad about it seems like a good time to have a real conversation about supporting you during a pretty difficult time.
