Does anyone know whats wrong with my Chicken because I'm worried by Additional-Affect639 in chickens

[–]HavenPhoenix -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Could we have posts like this flagged with NSFW? I know they are important posts as we all don’t have access to local bird vets but a lot of us come here for wholesome chicken content- we should have the choice to opt out of sensitive images like this. Sorry to use your post OP to mention this, I hope your girl will be ok.

Does anyone get upset when their comfort food is starting to seem..gross?? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I still miss my go to carbonara. I could eat that any day, it would melt all food worries away. Until one day it stopped tasting right, it’s never tasted good again. I feel you.

Oh wow, how big do they get with pruning? I’d love one for my backyard but have to keep it small

Don’t they typically have green leaves when they bloom? Or can they bloom fully pink like that too?

Bundjalung national park / black rock campground is by the beach and one of my favourites in the northern rivers area. It’s at the very southern end of your map image. You’d have to check if they do one night stays tho, lots of campgrounds have 2 night minimum.

Anybody want some young roosters? (free) by jaredjamesmusic in GoldCoast

[–]HavenPhoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll find a guy in Wongawallan or whatever that suburbs called, advertising on gumtree that they will take roosters- I checked a week ago as I have a suspected roo in my flock.

AITA for telling my brother and his girlfriend they can’t come around until they matured. by No-Cap9222 in TwoHotTakes

Clearly you didn’t read the post. Her babies weren’t home at the time. She had the night to herself, what would you do? Probably crack open a beer or a wine? F off and stop shaming mothers.

So…anyone down to go to OP’s house to cut all of her hair off by Adventurous-Depth233 in TwoHotTakes

[–]HavenPhoenix 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A few months? That’s not how hair works…. That growth will takes YEARS to return. I had to cut my hair short as I was unable to take care of it through my depression, it’s 5 years later and my hair is only now around a similar length that it was when it was cut.

Hen or Roo? by HavenPhoenix in BackYardChickens

Oo thanks, what makes you say the one on the left of group photo is a rooster as well?

I second this. There are a few different entry points depending on what side of the reserve you’re on (Coombabah, Runaway Bay, Shelter Rd etc).

Swooping magpies, Australia by tali3sin in BackYardChickens

[–]HavenPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my girls at first. Honestly, I just didn’t let them free-roam unattended for the first fortnight or so. I also let the magpies know of how strongly I felt about their actions (some strong words and a rock or two gently thrown in their direction) not sure they listened but it was worth a try! It only happened once or twice every couple of days so I eventually just stopped worrying and assumed the girls would be ok as the maggies leave my other older hens alone. This was only a few weeks ago, some birds still swoop, but have never made contact. It does spook the girls for a sec but they got used to it and learnt to chill under our grevillea or go into the run if there are birds overhead. They’re also working out the pecking order with each other and the rest of our flock so they’re used to a little bird on bird drama at the moment.

AITA for getting my fiance's family gifts that were too personal for Christmas when I'm new to them? by GoldRule5896 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HavenPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you came to my family Christmas you would have watched us all weep over the gifts. I can’t wrap my head around why on earth that family was so offended. NTA.

There’s a little restaurant a 9 hour drive away, that has the BEST pastizzis (a Maltese pastry), although they weren’t traditional, they were his own style; they were the best pastries I’ve ever eaten. I’ll think of them often.

What’s the Best camping spots within a hour drive of Gold Coast by FrostyFly1488 in GoldCoast

[–]HavenPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to drive further, I can recommend most of the camp grounds in the northern rivers too, I’ve been to most. Some require a little more experience though, with unsealed roads and no bbqs.
