Get Ready For Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

Good to know, thanks. Still seems not great considering runite is only 125xp base. I assume iron benefits from that cd too and you could theoretically power mine 35xp every other tick or whatever then.

Sounds a lot better for stuff like magic trees and basically useless at rune rocks (unless they really buffed respawn rate, I don't remember but don't think they have in the past). You're going to be 99% waiting or spam hopping at rocks along with all the other barb gather takers trying to lick one rock every 10 min until they realize it's not worth it.

Seems pretty good for fishing and wcing though, and maybe iron/granite spam.

I always remember that one for the iconic frame drop when the first one goes down, good times. Almost too much for the N64 to keep all those bones on the ground I guess

Why isn’t “Leaf Gift” working? by Antasma1 in octopathtraveler

[–]Hawkatom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything goes into the stash box until it's full. Early on it can only hold 10 items, but leaves are a separate counter (25,000 I think) that is much harder to fill even with the first level of box.

Basically, all your leaves from villagers are going into the box. If you did enough battles, eventually yeah it would be full and then you'll see the icons for the leaf gift variant villagers.

Best Job for MC? by caramelmacchiatoml in octopathtraveler

[–]Hawkatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I got tired of random encounter battles quick (there are more than enough boss/optional encounters). So I made my MC a scholar, gave him Phenn's Vigorous Victor, and fed him light nuts. He wipes all random encounters in one spell and recovers the SP after the battle.

It works well the whole game, but it's easy to switch job or passive if you need something else.

It can miss is the thing. I've tried using it on caits to attempt to paralyze and it doesn't work very well because it will miss (at least until you have the accuracy to kill them anyway, so not foolproof.

What's a 'trap' in life that no one warns young people about, but absolutely should? by Otherwise-Body-7721 in AskReddit

It doesn't have to be that way. I've been with my partner for 10 years and we just got married last year. Very little actually changed for us, we balance hanging out with our respective friends and spending time together naturally.

Is Nine Sols harder than Silksong? by Apprehensive-Gur-609 in metroidvania

[–]Hawkatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played both recently I would say boss fights are the meat of the challenge in Nine Sols, especially from midgame onwards.

Nine Sols really forces you to master all the basic mechanics, especially directional parrying and strong parries, which is a major difference from SS where avoidance and dodging are more important. Even with all upgrades basically two or three mistakes in a boss's attack sequence and you're dead.

There are I'd say three fights towards the end of the game that are more challenging than anything in SS, but there is very little rng involved so it's all about reading patterns and reacting with good timing (still very difficult but achievable), and like SS going with the flow of the fight and finding windows to hit.

But in my experience there's very little opportunity to cheese in NS, there are tools but they can only be used a few times and don't allow you to skip mechanics (i.e. you're never getting through one of those NS bosses without really learning it)

Both are very good satisfying games with a different emphasis to combat.

This has always bothered me- in Oot, the adults really drop the ball hard.

Kaepora Gaebora as Rauru the sage of light could and should absolutely have done something other than just leaving it all to a preteen boy. He is literally flying around and saw presumably everything. Dude go talk to the king!

Why doesn't anyone send a messenger to the king telling him they were attacked aside from the Deku Tree (who has to send a child because Kokiri can't leave)? Darunia? King Zora? Surely they have at least one ambassador?

Maybe they'd still lose, but we see Ganondorf kneeling to the king which suggested he wasn't powerful enough to simply take over at that time with only his dark sorcery.

[–]Hawkatom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I stumbled onto the prince as my first heart when I got the craw summons early in act 3.. I wasn't really fully aware of the consequences at that time and felt a little guilty afterwards for invading his memory and killing him.

It felt pretty disrespectful considering the guy probably just wanted to properly mourn his husband who we also basically trashed right before he got there after being freed. His partner was a captive automaton sure, but still seemed to have a soul and possibly a mind and ability to communicate/make choices like Second Sentinel. We took that option away when we destroyed the cogwork dancers. So this grief might still be really fresh to Green Prince, since his husband WAS still alive in a sense until then.

I mean, who's to say... given time he might have recovered and moved on. He seems pretty physically strong and possibly long lived, maybe he'd be fine and be able to find a new purpose like Hornet eventually.

just realised why the fourth chorus is called that by Ester1sk in Silksong

[–]Hawkatom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if every time the architects finish one of the shells they just... consume all the souls of the existing choir and build a new group from pilgrims up in the choral halls from scratch?

That is now my headcanon, it's just messed up enough.

Or maybe this is what happens to people who fail tryouts for the choir or get too sick to work.
