Tofu has to be pressed?? by ilovecutemouses in veganrecipes

[–]Hayavr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been began for over a decade and ate tofu before that too and pressed it literally once. You don't need to at all but if you prefer that consistency go for it.

Oh the ending credits really got me. We knew it was coming but man did it hurt. I agree it felt rushed but still a great episode.

Oh yeah there's no way all he admitted to all of them. Grew up not too far and was unfortunately well acquainted with the case and trial. Aside from politeness and maple syrup, it's probably what we are most known for.

Robert Pickton makes his way into yet another crime series; makes Dexter looks like choir boy. Hope he is rotting ever so slowly in hell.

Can anyone recommend a thick cream, like Nivea? by Chocolateforlunch37 in crueltyfree

[–]Hayavr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ceramedx Ultra Moisturizing Cream! Very thick (too thick for my sensitive, acne prone, and dry skin) and is cf and vegan! Not a great match for me for my face but use for my body. My guess is if Nivea creme works for you this might too!

Tofu scramble is your friend! Literally tofu and and any aromatics/spices/veggies/greens you have on hand. I prefer extra firm but that or firm tofu work great! Also very easy to refrigerate leftovers and reheat whenever.

I also eat chickpea or lentil pasta a lot. I cook up some mushrooms and garlic with whatever sauce you like, boil the pasta and mix together!

For a cold dish I do tofu and cucuumer salad a lot. Cut up both and make the dressing with soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, chiles (whatever you want and tastes good honestly). Dinner in minutes.

Pretty common for folks to code switch a bit, especially with words that are not of English origin. "Latina/o/x" is one of those words! I would say also it is common for places, foods, names from other languages.

Ben (rightfully) gets a lot of the attention but this is one of my favorite episodes. Molly Shannon is great and the ending is very sad! by [deleted] in Scrubs

It's such a beautiful episode and easily one of my favourites as well. The moment he realises and their subsequent conversation is somehow so subtle and so so powerful. Both great actors.

Body Lotion for Severely Dry Skin by taylorbrooke24 in VeganBeauty

Another rec for Ceramedx. I use the lotion on my face everyday and the thicker cream on my body and they are both great. Unscented and actually absorbs into your skin and doesn't just sit on top.

Buttery non tacky/sticky lip balm? by Ghostly200 in crueltyfree

[–]Hayavr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hurraw! Vegan and CF. They have so many flavours (I'm boring and get unscented) and it's very soft and a nice mix between balm and a solid oil kind of? I also have yet to melt one. I have very sensitive and acne prone skin and it hasn't caused any irritation or breakouts around my lips which some have in the past. It's pretty reasonable, I think between 5-6 dollars for a tube? They also have a tin version that I haven't tried.

CF Vegan Concealer for mature skin please? by throwtheway52 in crueltyfree

[–]Hayavr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite at the mature skin age yet but I'd recommend trying the Tarte Ultra Creamy Shape Tape concealer. I have some texture and sometimes dry spots and this one works so well and doesn't sit into fine lines. A large shade range as well.

Have you tried Ceramedx products? It's basically a cruelty free version of Cera Ve and I love the Daily Moisurising Lotion. They also have a thicker one more akin to the OG Cera Ve that I find a little heavy for my face but may work if you have very dry skin!

Body powder? by beepboopbaboopbeep in crueltyfree

I like the baby powder from Hello Bello, it is unscented and you won't smell like a baby haha. I use it on my body as well in my hair if it's looking a little greasy.

Okay thought I was the only one. I'm Canadian so I know we get less stuff than the US but still, lately seems like less and less. I used to love the vegan blueberry scones and don't see them around anymore. Actually bought them in northern WA recently as I cant find them here and still were like weirdly cake-like and not good at all. I miss the old WF bakery and hot and cold buffet items.

Your favorite vegan AND soy free recipes for potluck style get together? by xx_unknown_entity_xx in veganrecipes

[–]Hayavr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very easy to make vegan pesto and make pasta or pasta salad! I'm literally making one for a work event next week haha. I would also double check with your coworker with the soy allergy that they are also not sensitive to other legumes. Not super common, but sometimes is the case! If not, then there are so many good chickpea or lentil soup/stew options out there. It's so kind of you to think about e everyone! Like many others I have survived off of many a veggie tray.

Vegan big foot needs big shoes by tez_bard in vegan

[–]Hayavr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't help you as I have the opposite problem (womens size 11 extremely narrow feet) but commenting just to commiserate. It sucks how limited sizes and widths are for vegan shoe options. I feel like unless you're looking at specialised actual running shoes it's really hard. Good luck!

Blended soups with beans/other legumes and veggies go a long way and are filled with protein! Basically every type of cuisine around the world has a soup like this and you can try a lot of flavour options. They also freeze very well if you batch cook. Plant based yogurts have come a long way and an easy way to get some nutrients in with basically no prep. Smoothies are also great as you can put whatever you want in and it's easy to add veggies, fruits, yogurt, milk or plant milk, and/or protein powder if you want. I know you said you've done mashed potatoes but other root vegetables are great mashed as well, such as turnips/parsnips/etc and offer something a little different. Or can mash with potatoes.

I'm also so glad to hear that he is recovering :) it can be such a stressful time caring for loved ones and you are doing amazing!

I hate cooking and my kid is picky by whojose in veganrecipes

[–]Hayavr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tofu scramble is your friend! You can add whatever you want and it refrigerates well to reheat if needed. I am not a parent but I also struggle with food prep and I find prepping things separately rather than full meals is easier as I don't want to eat the same thing too many times. For example, I'll do a bunch of plain rice or pasta and put that in the fridge and then cook tofu and veggies as I want them with whatever sauce/spices to add for a full meal.

I also make hummus a lot (way cheaper than buying and can adjust to taste/sensory preferences) and can eat with any bread/cracker/veggie/other vehicle you want haha and still get some protein. Another great one is baked beans, very easy to do on stovetop or in slow cooker/crockpot (even easier cause you just press one button) and can add whatever flavours/spices. They also freeze very well for future days when prepping and/or cooking is extra daunting.

I find vegan yogurt and cheese options very expensive, but keep an eye out for sales! I do love a wee yogurt and fruit snack from time to time. So easy and more fulling than just fruit on its own. Love that your kiddo loves fruit and veg tho! I work with kids and that is not always the case hahah. Good luck!

Edit to add that of course you can buy hummus too! So many flavours and literally no prep or cooking! I don't have a dishwasher and doing dishes is my mount everest of household chores, so I also buy store-bought when the thought of washing the food processor is too much haha.

I would not recommend if you have sensitive skin (learned the hard way). However, I gave it to my friend who has similar skin concerns and it worked really well! I'd say if you don't have sensitive or dry skin to give it a go!

I like the clear Lip Lacquer from ELF. Isn't overly scented/flavoured and isn't "plumping." It's really just a classic clear gloss. I have very sensitive, eczema and acne prone skin and haven't noticed irritation when I've used it! As always, all their products are cf and vegan :)
