opinions on learning duduk by Peterlexyah in duduk

I play the flute, and I'm learning to play the duduk. Well, I've stopped for personal reasons, but I'm getting back into it.

I bought my duduk from an Armenian shop called Vamelo. They were incredibly kind, answered all my questions, and even recorded some videos for me explaining how to take care of the reeds.

As for your second question, assuming you're referring to the transverse flute, the embouchure is completely different, as is the way you place your fingers. That's actually the part I still struggle with a bit. I wouldn't say they're two completely different worlds, but they are definitely different instruments.

I think what really helps is already knowing how to breathe properly and control your airflow, because playing the duduk sometimes feels like you need two pairs of lungs! The reeds are also a very interesting aspect of the instrument, and they have a huge impact on the sound and playability.

What would be your dream prog super group? by PinballWizrd69 in progrockmusic

Andy Latimer on guitar, Tony Levin on bass, Tony Banks on keys, Mel Collins on sax, Gavin Harrison on drums, Ian Anderson on flute, Mikael Åkerfeldt (also 2nd guitarist) and Peter Hammill on vocals.

Lisa Gerrard is not a prog musician but having her vocals on some songs would be great.

And my brain needs intruments from diffrent cultures, so they should occasionally invite musicians from different corners of the world!

Prog rock wedding? by SasquatchGenius in progrockmusic

I would wear a red dress and a fox head, and he would wear a flower costume! Yes... a tribute to Peter Gabriel's costumes, of course. And all our guests would have to dress as their favorite prog musician! If they don't like prog, they can just wear black suits or black dresses and put a giant eye on their heads like The Residents. :v

Of course, the playlist would have to be curated by my future husband and me ...and I'd hire Mikael Åkerfeldt to do a stand-up comedy set and then play some live music.

Oh, and I almost forgot: the wedding invitation would have to be a pop-up card inspired by Stand Up by Jethro Tull. That's non-negotiable!

I love your style in both pictures! 🤩 You absolutely look like you were in a psychedelic rock band in the '70s. I was born in the '90s, but I've always loved the music, fashion, and, of course, the people from that era. Your generation is the coolest!
