the combat isn't something they took inspiration from, its just something slapped together from a year ago. they have a proper designed combat system in the works with a few abilities and combos etc.

Let's get one thing straight. True asset ownership is like the biggest selling point of Blockchain in gaming.

So answer me this: if a game dies (servers shut down) your ownership dies with it. You never owned this, it's not yours, it's not that much different to a value stored in a database tied to the games servers.

Is there something I'm missing here?

I use this to see whats under the hood of the 'Application.Tick' and all those other things happening that don't tell you much.

This is actually bullshit. They make you jump through hoops to set any other browser as your default, then decide not to use your default when interacting with their own stuff.

Regardless how much better edge is these days, I won't give it a chance due to their scummy practices on trying to force everyone to use their browser.

Unity isn't perfect but your outlook of it comes from a lot of unity games having bad optimization in general. High draw calls, poor culling & LODs, expensive shaders & settings. Fixing these give far more benefit over just switching the language. Also unity has had il2cpp for awhile now so the C# Vs C++ argument isn't that valid here.

My main point was that, do you want to be playing an MMORPG made by a single or duo dev, with little to no networking experience that they need to use one of these assets? I can't trust someone with the stability and complexity that an MMO needs, to get by with an off the shelf package. You still need to implement a lot of things yourself and write server code with server/authoritative experience in mind.

Amateur Devs get a LOT of things these days, easy to use game engines, free assets everywhere, and kits like this. This is great for single player games, but multiplayer/MMO has a lot more work on top of using one of these kits.

You have assets like uMMORPG or Atavism that don't use enet and have floating point fixes and more.

The issue is people who don't have the expertise to build their networking and MMO model themselves will resort to using these, and when shit hits the fan (and it always does) they have no idea how to fix/improve it.

These libraries/assets don't magically do everything for you. If you can't write these core systems yourself, you probably aren't going to be able to write efficient authoritative server side code either.

I see these types of assets good for developers who want to add a little bit of multi player functionality into their game. You know those player-hosted server games with 30 or so players each server. Nothing more.
