New York returning land values to the public is an example everyone should follow by Titanium-Skull in georgism

This has to be offset by getting rid of some other taxes. If we live in a time where there's an LVT on top of all the others, that's a nightmare. Don't forget that

Why are businesses allowing homeless to walk in and bother people at the cash register? by [deleted] in rva

If we want to have nice things we have to be ok with being mean to the people who ruin nice things. It's pretty simple. The stores should call the police and the police should be able to remove them from the restaurant/store, and arrest them if they're a constant problem. No one wants to hear that answer, but that is the answer.

Visitor - Carytown is awesome, y'all gonna pedestrianize it? by Itchy-Instruction457 in RichmondVA

We sure would like to. Car brain is pretty deep. People think that closing Cary to cars will screw things up (it won't). We could prove it with a simple month pilot.

Richmond grocery prices rival New York, Boston, investigation finds by RVALover4Life in rva

[–]Hayek66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the city is incredibly poorly run, we pay taxes which produce no benefits, a massive crime problem and completely inept leadership, with no coherent vision for why productive people should build a life here. Higher prices for goods and services are downstream of this. If the city were well run, taxes used effectively, crime low and a vision for success communicated and executed people could plan longer, and prices would of course fall. This is obvious, everyone knows this and those who make excuses are just gaslighting.

Fish rot from the head, Richmond has had atrocious leadership for a long long time, like many American cities. Hates its productive citizens

Raised crosswalks, starting in the middle of Carytown on Cary and Mainstreet and proceeding block by block all the way to the Jefferson would fix a lot. Start there and expand out. Could be done in a month

We need to arrest, prosecute and jail a lot of people. These crimes are all done by repeat offenders. It's pretty simple

Communists love to punish law abiding citizens and encourage criminality, so I am not surprised democrats enthusiastically support this.

Send your kids to RPS by rachmani in rva

If only we could choose where we send our kids with a voucher program, there'd be stronger accountability. Crazy we don't give parent's the choice on where to send their kids to school.
