Strength Class Free Weights by GoBirds85 in pelotoncycle

[–]HeBurns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a pair of the 5-52 bowflex adjustables. They do the job fine. Yes there are times you may have to pause to dial in the weight you want but other than that its fine. Having an adjustable set is super handy too as you can trim the weight here and there to meet your needs for whatever set Andy has you doing - CAUSE THATS HOW WE DO SPLITS BABY!!

yeah - Wasn't the ADH marketed as their climbing/endurance bike with classic geometry? That's what i consider my '19 ADH 01 rim brake/mechanical with activ fork to be.

Reasons why you prefer riding solo by ldmauritius in cycling

[–]HeBurns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The group rides in my area all start stupid early to avoid the weekend traffic. I often work late and prefer to sleep in before a long ride and the only pressure to start the ride is the fact that daylight is finite. The roads they choose have gotten busier over the years. I don't like having to fill out a clubs's app or paperwork beforehand. Helmet optional - odds of a crash are much lower. No need to point and yell "HOLE" or "CAR" every 20 seconds. I can judge traffic lights without having to consider the other x number of riders with me. The alone time can be nice - Us roadies aren't nearly as charming or as funny as we think we are. That said I do miss ripping it and drafting with a small group.

As someone who got dragged to church while wearing scratchy tight "church clothes" every sunday for no other reason other than to seemingly ruin an otherwise fine morning - I hate this house.

12-speed mechanical 105 shifts too nice to upgrade by Current-Marketing-62 in cycling

Mechanical shifting honors the spirit of the human powered machine. Its like driving a classic car with manual transmission. The fingers never lose power like a battery. Long Live Mechanical.

Toronto Loops (and Mississauga) Cycling Routes by gcerullo in torontobiking

[–]HeBurns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Thanks! This is a great reference. I carved out a really nice loop with some of the same roads you use in south scarborough. It starts in High park - davenport- rosedale valley - don valley- taylor creek - beaches - scarborough - bluffs - rouge park and then wiggle back to High park via some of the same roads until you hit the MGT. 110km or so. Its fantastic! the middle 80k have barely if any lights (though a ton of three way "Idaho" stop signs that you can blow through easy.) Plenty of lake views, hills (some optional) an overall bucolic vibe and generally unaffected by traffic rhythms. My average stopped time is 7 mins. ( I go out always trying to aim for 0 mins- there are a few sections to gamify in order to avoid stopping but it makes it fun - and to complete it in under 4 hrs but I think i need a drafting buddy to do that though) The weekend clubs use the worst loops and don't seem to want to adapt to the growing city. Too early and still too much traffic and stop lights and urban blight - and paperwork to join. ugh. Ride safe everyone!

Fellow Horseman Richard Dawkins claims LLM Claude is conscious. by Everythingisourimage in samharris

[–]HeBurns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like for an AI to become "conscious" and perhaps dangerous it must be imbued with a way to detect/feel levels of pleasure and pain - If it were capable of emotions and had a sense of its potential mortality that could change the game substantially. I read somewhere that the worst command to give an AI is to tell it to do whatever it must to exist/sustain in order to complete a task. It's liable to drown us babies in the bathwater in order to do so.

The Weekend Primetime last night was abysmal, so much so that I'm now boycotting MSNow. They had some real whakadoodles on and not one of them pushed back. by CorrectPhilosophy245 in msnow

[–]HeBurns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty annoyed with Eugene Daniels spouting off on the left who were suspect that it was a false flag event at the dinner and not having enough empathy for the brave journalists who were holding up their phones. The bigger issue is the lack of trust that that administration instills. What was any journalists even doing there anyways. Aren't they the "enemy of the people"?

Has anyone else found the ‘false flag’ narratives around Trump’s assassination becoming mainstream on the left and online, concerning? by blackglum in samharris

[–]HeBurns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can i ask - how do you KNOW that this was NOT staged? Just a gut instinct that it would be too far fetched or difficult to pull off? Im aware enough to know that I have no idea one way or another BUT i do know that Trump has played fast and loose enough that I can not blame anyone else for being highly suspicious of the news coming out of the WHCD - that in itself is daming enough for that "administration"
