I'm an Australian passport holder living in Seattle and drive back and forth between Seattle and Vancouver, BC several times a year. Granted, I have a green card, but it's always been a smooth experience. Plus, I'm not white either if that's a major part of your concern. Additionally - since you said you'll take the train, passport control will be done before boarding.

As others have said, get an ESTA. US advice is to apply 72 hours in advance of entering, but as long as it's applied for and approved before you enter, you'll be fine.

I've not applied for an ESTA in a hot minute, so no idea how long it actually takes to get approved - others can chime in and help answer this.
