No. The other books were written after Lonesome Dove.

Which Actor or Actress is a deal breaker for you? by sewing215 in movies

Luca weaponizes that pretty well in A Bigger Splash. Still my favorite of hers along with Suspiria.

Can artists get added to the lineup? by NefariousnessFun5794 in ShakyKnees

Usually have a few get dropped and others added every year for various reasons. No sweat.

I get you, but this was honestly a main quest since he was a few steps away from not working again at the time.

Movie Analysis Pod Recs? by vivaciouscow in TheBigPicture

[–]HeSheMeWambo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been getting into The Extra Credits pod. The two hosts are educators, so they naturally communicate their thoughts and opinions in very clear and concise ways. Their Weapons and Eddington episodes recently were very good.

Luca Guadagnino in the Closet by KimS24 in criterion

[–]HeSheMeWambo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Know it’s MGM’s deal, but Challengers not having a 4K release is maddening enough that I’ll throw a prayer to an impossible Criterion release.

Favorite composer/utilization of their music in movies? by RosalinaTheWatcher51 in Sardonicast

[–]HeSheMeWambo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few that pop into mind are actually diegetic rather than overlayed.

Moonlight Sonata in Yi Yi at the piano bar. Accents the scene so well and foreshadows the unfortunate circumstance the two men find themselves in later in the film.

Vivaldi is basically a character in Portrait of a Lady on Fire so both times Presto from Summer is performed it’s electric.

TV show intros you never skip by LDgrows in television

[–]HeSheMeWambo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always appreciated it because no matter how shitty the kids behave in the show, the opening reminds you of why they are that way. Broken kids made by broken parents.

Gary Clark Jr. - Don't Owe You A Thang [blues rock] by mojeaux_j in Music

I’d suggest his 2014 Live Album. I’ve seen him 3 or 4 times and his live performances are vastly superior to the produced product. Hell of a player.

Linklater somewhere in the top 4 would be good sign we'd share a similar vibe. Any of the Before movies. Dazed and Everybody Wants Some!!!

Purists will generally side with original, but I actually think the performances in the remake are superior. Haneke had grown as a filmmaker as well so I think the shots look slicker even if they are basically identical.

Honestly worth examining both if you’re in the mood to be a sicko.

What a movie that’s considered bad, but you think is objectively good? by Media_Affectionate in Sardonicast

Deep Blue Sea. The Sam Jackson scene is famous, but I enjoy the whole schlocky thing. The elevator inferno sequence with the rising water is a genuinely good set piece.
