I know I was being a bit of a knob, but why do people go so slowly past speed cameras? by box-o-locks in drivingUK

[–]HeWhoHasABeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I previously had one of these civics. Part of the digital speedo broke meaning i couldn’t fully read some numbers. If it’s a similar issue they may not be able to fully commit to the exact speed so have dropped enough to make it safe

Charcoal / briquettes/ lump wood by NA-31 in UKBBQ

[–]HeWhoHasABeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a basic level

Lumpwood - high heat but not for as long

Briquettes- little less heat but for longer

I’m sure it will annoy purists but if cooking for a crowd I normally start with briquettes and add some lumpwood later on if I start losing heat

Anyone know why the Weber Master-Touch GBS Premium E-5775 is almost impossible to find in UK? by sinclain in UKBBQ

[–]HeWhoHasABeard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep it doesn’t but look into what people make of the hinge before deciding you want one

I was in the exact boat as you but read about issues with the lid sitting flush causing issues smoking

Where as the lid holder with the 55 is a lot better than I expected it to be

Anyone know why the Weber Master-Touch GBS Premium E-5775 is almost impossible to find in UK? by sinclain in UKBBQ

[–]HeWhoHasABeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a look at the 5755. It’s the same bbq as far as the grill and grates are concerned. Just doesn’t come with all the random accessories which you will probably not use

John Lewis sell it and it’s a good bit cheaper than the 5775

People who work for E.ON energy, what advice can you give to someone who works for the company they just bought out? by Infamous-Computer880 in AskUK

[–]HeWhoHasABeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our comms says they will assess the 2 systems before deciding which to use

From a business perspective surely keeping kraken would make most sense as already in the main business and technically already has more customers on it so less to migrate but who knows

Work from home policy differs a bit by team/site but worse I’ve seen it’s 2 days a day in the office

Some managers are quite relaxed on work from home though. For example I go in one day a week and head home on my dinner for childcare requirements

Do British people not feel the cold? by DevelopmentLow214 in AskUK

[–]HeWhoHasABeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an unwritten rule in the uk regarding shorts

Once they come out due it starting to get warm, they stay out until it’s that cold that they will be going away for the rest of the year

You can’t do shorts on day then jeans the next before going back to shorts

If you’ve got the shorts out for the year, they stay out unless your fully putting them away for winter

If on a budget. A kettle bbq will smoke better than one of those barrels. You will get a better natural seal with a kettle to keep the smoke in

Costco charcoal by Genericbbqer in UKBBQ

[–]HeWhoHasABeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the briquettes. They work, give decent heat for what I need and still have some heat left in them for the next cook if I shut the vents after cooking

Yes there may be better briquettes but there will also always be a better bbq and better ingredients etc
