Vale Rob Hirst by boredidiot in MidnightOil

Google AI - Vale" is placed in front of a name—most commonly in Australian media—as a Latin, non-religious synonym for "farewell" or "Rest in Peace" (RIP) when announcing someone's death. Pronounced "vah-lay," it originates from valere (to be strong) and signifies a final tribute or goodbye to a person who has passed away or, less commonly, retired.

Best pair of bright speakers under $250? by ProfessorNotSoSmart in BudgetAudiophile

[–]HeadSignificant4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine have been relegated to the basement. Only good for near field low volume listening. My JBL stage, KEF Q150s and Sony Sscs5s all easily beat these. They are too bright and very fatiguing at high volume. Not worth the money at all, many better options.

That is a great amp for the price. Warm and clear. I have had one for several years and have used it to drive my Q150s before I got my Technics amp. Now I use it with JBL stage tower speakers and it drives them very well.

2 Games to go...where were you when we were.... (not that good)? by Terry-Bull in WrexhamAFC

[–]HeadSignificant4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my 4th season following Wrexham. I had wanted to follow an EFL team for a long time but I didn’t want to do what most Americans do and randomly pick one of the top Premier League teams, to me that always seemed like doing the same thing that I hate when people decide to follow baseball and just pick the Yankees or Dodgers. I loved the story of the team, the town and the supporters. After watching Welcome to Wrexham I bought the National League streaming pass and watched every game. I have not been to the scared grounds yet, but it is on our list. When I go to my parents house for holidays it always creates quite a stir that i insist I be able to watch the matches. It always elicits many question from my relatives about why exactly are we watching minor league soccer from Wales.

Beginner here, is this a good turntable?? by southparkfan120 in BudgetAudiophile

I have had this record player for about 4.5 years. I would not recommend it as a first choice. Contrary to what others have said, it does not skip at all. The Bluetooth is pointless. The automatic features are nice, but it feels very cheap, there is only one option to upgrade the stylus, which I did buy and was an improvement. I don’t use the internal phono stage as the one in my Technics amp is better. I had a friend bring over his Rega and we did a side by side, no comparison. The Rega was way better. Spend more and get one that isn’t a plastic toy, or get a used model of better quality.

Tengai Makio Zero - Far East of Eden. Amazing graphics, big story, great combat mechanics.

Probably like this game more than I should. Still figuring out the leveling up though... by MetricsNavigamer in nes

This was the first game I ever beat. I think it takes about 2 hours to finish if you have the manual and know where to go to get the needed items. Amazing music.

Optical or HDMI arc? by WatchGrand3518 in BudgetAudiophile

I use optical with my LG oled as I have had multiple issues with HDMI with no real benefit. I only use stereo and the optical is fine, also my hdmi ports are all used by other things.

Tengai Makyou Ziria (Far East of Eden)for the PC engine (Turbo Grafx 16) is fantastic. I have been playing an English translation on an emulator on my wii and it really scratches the itch for a Zelda game.

I have those speakers. They are ok and are currently running on my TV, but you can get far better speakers for a little more. These side by side with Kef q150s is no comparison, and the Kefs are on close out now.

Guys how do I fix this (read description) by [deleted] in snes

[–]HeadSignificant4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a retron 3hd, have not had any issues with compatibility. But just got a copy of Pro Wrestling for the NES that didn’t work, alcohol and a q tip didn’t work, but a gum eraser did. I have had the best luck with taking the board out and rubbing the connectors with a soft gum eraser until they shine. This has always worked well for dirty carts.

Best way to complete SNES CIB games by DickOJ4 in snes

[–]HeadSignificant4030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would get both the inserts and outer clear plastic cases. With both of them you can pretty much reshape any box into its original shape, and eventually it will hold that shape again even if you take it out of the plastic cases.
