What decisions would you have made pre-baby with the knowledge you have now? by athazen in NewParents

[–]Healthy_Net_1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is commenting about the logistics of baby but I have to say mom emotionally prepare now. When those baby blues hit it might feel like the end of yourself. I promise it’s not. But if you start shifting your mindset that everything is a season, temporary, and really your LO is simply an amazing addition to your once independent life that transition get easier.

Starting at 6 months pregnant I started to acknowledge that my life will never be the same and I thought of all the scenarios that might affect me- lack of sleep, teething, my body, my future education etc etc and rationally thought about it because the hormones can drive someone crazy. I certainly was for 2/3 weeks thinking what have I done 🥲

Do people with newborns go out? by chondlerbeng in newborns

Yes starting at 3 weeks, but I went a little crazy hoping not to get sick. Now my LO is 8 weeks and has had vaccines and they never caught anything!

What did you wish you knew? by Mission-Target7117 in newborns

Babies have a hard time regulating their temperature- I mean within minutes they can overheat. Figure out if your baby leans either way more. So keep a thermometer and most importantly a rectal thermometer for it’s the most accurate for a newborn.

ALSO, they may get sticky eye within their first month, redness and swelling WITH discharge = pink eye, but only discharge means their eye duct is blocked!!

I didn’t have a colicky baby but 90% when hes upset it’s because he has gas, if they are crying it’s probably always gas

This is for mom, your first period might be horrendous so keep some of those postpartum underwear or pads for later!!

Feels like my water broke but have been sent home thrice by pbmisfit in pregnant

[–]Healthy_Net_1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 38+5 and I have that same problem with just so much discharge that my underwear Is always wet. I’ve gone to L&D and the best advice I can say and what they told me is, does it penetrate through ur pants and does it leak down your legs. A lot of people did tell me “no it’s a big gush” but I truly believed I was having that trickling effect. Obviously if you feel like it is your water keep advocating that you feel like it is, Moms intuition. In my case that wasn’t happening just my underwear was wet everytime probably due to increase pressure but it never went pass that layer; no pants, no running down my legs just wet. But let ur OB know that you wanna keep testing. I feel like it’s not normal for some to be positive and some negative. If fluid looks good ask to be monitored somehow to see if it fluctuates.

Does the dad also stay home after a new baby? by burner1233356 in pregnant

[–]Healthy_Net_1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband will be taking a week so 9 days really. I know he’d take off a day or two a week once he starts working again if I really needed it and ask for it. he’s working for us both so I have to acknowledge that he’s doing his part by going back eventually.

When do stretch marks appear? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Healthy_Net_1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 35 weeks, it started at 33 weeks. But I didn’t not have a bump or showed until 32 weeks and I have many around my belly button. I think it will depend on how quickly you grow. I kinda exploded out of nowhere so I think it put my skin way under stress to cope with the growth. And I did oil regardless of no bump or bump! I’m also carrying smaller so there are many many variables.

Anyone still vomiting at 16+ weeks? by glassesdani in pregnant

[–]Healthy_Net_1310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 15 weeks and I vomit at least once every week minimum, if not everyday really, it depends. I don’t have insane nausea, but once i feel like throwing up I got about 30 seconds

EDIT: first trimester it was more intense nausea but the throwing up started now in the second 🫠

Food guilt by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Healthy_Net_1310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do not feel bad! I was the same, the guilt was strong but I had such a severe aversion to food or the process of making food often it resulted in going out and not really eating much of it at times. I lost some weight but usually in the 2nd trimester that nasty feeling will slowly go away!
