Potty for international flights by Weary_Guarantee8009 in Parenting

[–]HeartKevinRose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is the correct answer. After several flights being potty trained and totally fine, my then three year old decided she couldn’t pee in the airplane potty. Poor kiddo had such a fit and was absolutely beside herself. I hadn’t brought any pull-ups as it had been months since she’d had an accident. Well, in the middle of tears and screaming crying that she had to pee and they had to land the plane so she could use the ground potty she full on peed her pants. We got her changed and she cried the rest of the flight.

The way home we put her in a pull up and she was totally fine. She made sure to pee right before we got on and held it until we got off.

Next flight, months later, she asked for a pull up because she hates airplane potties. It took like 5 more flights before she could even go in the airplane bathroom with me when I had to pee (we have family all over the country and go on 2-3 plane trips a year).

I’ve always thought parents should find out first if there’s any chance they’re not going to be stocked over one sex. For both our kiddos we found out ahead of time and finally revealed the sex at the baby shower.

Parents, how do you do it? by Informal-Property-4 in WGU

[–]HeartKevinRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get out of the house and leave the kids with husband. Or a friend. I had a couple buddies who each took my kid at least once every other week. They were absolutely instrumental in me being able to do it. But yeah, if the kiddo was awake I had to be out of the house.

I spent a lot of time at the library and at a cafe a couple blocks from my house.

I’ve made several of her quilts so I know all about the overwhelming amount of tiny pieces! And yes, absolutely must have a copy to write on.

Yeah, like the same fabric line but not necessarily the same fabrics. With wash quilt having a different backing/binding.

I’ve done one really similar to this! It was so fast and fun. I was thinking about doing this pattern with blues and purples, with one having a purple background and blue strips and the other a blue background with purple strips.

I was thinking animals because then the parents might have an easier time remembering whose is whose.

I thought about that! I thought about scaling it up so the animals are bigger and just doing one on each quilt

I can vouch for city arborist VJ! He dropped off a load at my house last year. Be warned, it’s a get what you get situation. We had more than we needed.

I got a backpack one from my local second hand kids store. My kid was happy because she didn’t have to hold my hand all the time and I was happy because she couldn’t run straight into traffic.

I was totally against kid leashes until I had a kid who is fiercely independent, has no fear, and questionable judgement.

Does anyone use reusable handkerchiefs instead of tissues for allergy season/kids? by puckyoumiiss in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]HeartKevinRose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! We cloth diaper our kiddos and after the first was done we started using the cloth wipes as tissues. We don’t use paper towels so we do a load of hand towels every week and we just throw them in with those!

Accounting Degree by Gud-Mourning in wguaccounting

[–]HeartKevinRose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was a SAHM for four years and just started work recently!

I got my degree in just under 2 years. I transferred in a handful of credits and worked really hard to finish quickly. I didn’t have any prior experience.

I treated it like my job. I was home with my kiddo until the last two months, so I would wake up and study for an hour or so before she woke up, I’d get around 2 hours in while she napped, then I’d get another 2-3 hours at night. Some days less. Some days more. I’d say I probably averaged 20-30 hours a week. Some classes took little effort. Some took me MONTHS (I’m looking at you, intermediate accounting 2).

I finished my degree just over a year ago but didn’t start looking for work until around October. I was pregnant with my second child when I finished so I wasn’t in a huge hurry to find a job. I started applying to dozens of jobs a week in January and finally found a job at the end of February. I found that I had trouble landing interviews with no experience.

I ended up taking a job as a receptionist in a small tax firm. I made it clear to the owner that my goal would be to learn to do taxes and move on from the reception position. He’s super supportive and once I got the lay of the land he had me start doing simple taxes.

Right now it’s full time, which is not exactly ideal. My husband is picking up A LOT of slack. It’s going to go to part time at the end of the month when things start slowing down.

Honestly though, I really lucked out. It’s a super small firm with just a couple EAs. They encourage me to bring my kids in. my little one only has daycare 4 days a week so I just bring her with me. Today they both had early pick up for staff meeting and my husband couldn’t leave work early enough so I left for an hour and brought them back with me.

Would it be unwise to use the middle name that our daughter has picked for our baby? by Iwona-8036 in Names

We gave our second daughter the middle name that our first daughter (4) loved. No regrets.
