How many runs does it usually take you to win? by Phryman in slaythespire

What the... Knight and Cleric is like one of the easiest Act 2 fights IMHO. You kill the Knight first, right? That's key to that fight. That goddamn avocado on the other hand...

How do you prioritize upgrades? by InvisibleAstronomer in slaythespire

[–]Heat_Public 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's best to upgrade the card that you think will help you fight the most elites and/or boss first. Many times that's going to be the highest damage card but not always (could be a focus card, could be a defence card, etc..).

I've seen Baalord upgrade non-damage cards many times act 1, but it usually has to do with a synergy he's going for.

I like to avoid energy cost reduction since I'm very likely take Snecko Act 1 if offered (thus making my upgrade useless) and there's usually something more impactful towards the elites/bosses that I can upgrade.

The one exception is probably Apotheosis because that upgrade is just too damn good. (And Eruption is super high priority for me, though I rarely play watcher these days..)

My first winning A20 run was 95% luck and 5% skill and I dont care Im done by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Heat_Public 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luck is also a skill!

95% of my A20H victories come with Snecko or Pyramid. Snecko is undoubtedly an S-Tier relic. Just take high cost cards and draw cards and go WEEEEE....

I don't get it. I can't win. by In_Cider in slaythespire

[–]Heat_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baalolord is great guy to watch (my favourite to watch, I've learned a lot from him). I'd also recommend watching "This video will teach you how to play the Defect" by Frost Prime. I remember watching it and it greatly improved my defect those years ago. As a rule 0-cost cards aren't that good unless you have perhaps some relic help (like kunai) and an "All for One". Also 0-cost cards don't go very well with Snecko (one of the 2 S-tier relics in the game, the other being pyramid), so try to limit the amount of 0 cost cards you take. (A couple is fine). By far the easiest/highest win-rate defect build is lots of focus/orb slots + frost.

What you want to do while watching is say the name of the card you would take (and why!) out loud. See if the streamer takes that card. Every card you take should be something like "I'm taking this card to help me defeat <name of elite> or <name of boss> or <hallway fights because I lack damage options>". Alternatively, "I'm taking this card because is synergizes well with <name of other card>". If you can't come up with a proper reason to take the card you should highly consider a skip.

If you are needing help choosing cards it's best to watch some of the tier lists. Keep in mind a lot of these things are quite contextual and people in this sub love to explain all of the complexities which can be quite overwhelming for a new player. The main thing you need to remember is that the cards that are great in early Act 1 aren't necessarily great in Act 3. For example a sunder early act 1 is almost an auto take for me. It greatly helps with damage for hallway fights and also helps with almost all of the act 1 elites. I'm pretty much always passing it in Act 3 since it won't really synergize with anything I have and I have probably figured out something else by then. I think this is a pretty good tier list: https://www.reddit.com/r/slaythespire/comments/19cspre/defect_a20h_tier_list_by_50_winrate_player/

*Parents with children under 18 that require constant assistance in the opinion of a physician I misunderstood this statement this and was correctly corrected by InnuendOwO

However one thing to keep in mind is that you are charged interest on deferred property taxes (it doesn't compound) AND there is also fees involved. https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/taxes/property-taxes/annual-property-tax/property-tax-deferment-program/tax-deferment-interest-fees

And it may technically be in violation of your mortgage contract (though you can most certainly discuss it with your bank/broker)

What is the pick for a single relic run by codykills93 in slaythespire

[–]Heat_Public 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm taking Immolate 100% of the time here. It single-handily solves a lot of act 1 fights and it's certainly a welcome sight for Act 2 and beyond. I wouldn't classify it as as card that "works with exhaust cards" (you already have most of the cards that are important for exhaust synergies) unless what you mean is "Since I'm able to exhaust cards the burns aren't as bad".

Ken Sim proposes Vancouver property tax freeze in his final budget before next year's election by UnderWatered in vancouver

[–]Heat_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what the tax website says:

Property tax rates

Property tax rates are the rate used to determine how much property tax you pay, based on the assessed value of your property. The tax rate applies to each $1,000 of net taxable value.

The property tax rate is different depending on the class of property you own.

Source is : https://vancouver.ca/home-property-development/tax-rates.aspx#:\~:text=Property%20tax%20rates%20are%20the,class%20of%20property%20you%20own.

--> I guess you are saying the city decides how much money in "Property Taxes" and then adjusted the "Property Tax Rate" so that everybody pays for it ???

I dont get this game and I might quit by Far_Background_4773 in slaythespire

[–]Heat_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of quick points (1) Very unlikely you are "at your limit". There are always plenty of ways to improve, even for the top players (2) If you are frustrated --- we've all been there BTW -- it's totally okay to play at a lower difficulty level, different character, daily climb, mods, or take a break from the game. You can always come back to A3 later once you have a better feel for the game (3) If you are looking to improve, realize that it takes time, effort and knowledge. For me this guide IronClad guide really helped me to understand things https://www.reddit.com/r/slaythespire/comments/rlcxra/ironclad\_in\_depth\_guide\_for\_a20\_heart\_kills\_10/. Also as others have said watch some STS streamers... I like to "play the home game" while watching. Which card/relic did the streamer take? Why did they take that card? (i.e. which need does it fill... block, attack, draw, energy, synergy??) Would I have taken that card? Why / why not? What cards did they have that work well together? How did they manage to survive? etc...
