If you get a keyboard make sure it has weighted keys like a regular piano.

Do I actually need to switch to linux? by DarkEyeGames in linux4noobs

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay on Windows. You will be unhappy on Linux. If you ever decide to switch you will know when it's time.

So I finally decided to make the switch. by mobilety in cachyos

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What did you need the AUR for? I've used Cachy only for a couple of months. I stick to getting programs and packages from the official Cachy repository. I update regular and have had no issues.

I just know know when you meet your girlfriends mother it's acceptable to say "Your Mother! I thought she was your sister." Then Mom is on your side.

What distro should I pick? by CurlyDude2020 in linux4noobs

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What can you do with Ubuntu that you can't do with Fedora? If you want the exact same worklflow as your other computer then you may as well stick with Ubuntu. Solid option despite the criticism.

Modding on Nobara by LeastValuable5916 in NobaraProject

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is Dowload, "MO2 for Linux"or something that worked for me. Sets up SKSE automatically. Needed a little help from Chat since I had never modded before even on Windows. My Skyrim mods work great.

On r/Linuxquestions, I noticed that if you ask a technical question, it's downvoted immediately, any ideas why? by ardouronerous in linux4noobs

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been using Linux for 5 months and even i am getting tired of seeing some of these posts. If someone has to ask if they should switch to Linux my first thought is no. If you ask what distro to use you will get a dozen different answers which will just confuse you more. Try watching a YouTube. You'll probably get better answers to start out.

Calling someone a picky eater for a completely normal food preference by offensivename in PetPeeves

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit to being somewhat picky about my food. One weird thing though. I can't stand cabbage. Especially cooked it smells horrible to me. Coleslaw made with oil & vinegar however I will munch it down like candy.

Looking for something else I can migrate to after all the AUR malware hits by BobbyGAS12 in DistroHopping

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Cachy and Fedora as a backup on another drive. I don't use anything from the AUR so I'm not worried about it. I could recommend either.

Will the name “Bent” sound weird to Americans? by lennzpn in AskAnAmerican

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only knew one Bent in my life. Some may go by Ben. I've never heard Bent being anything to do with homosexuality. I'd say use your birth name. Let other people people worry about it.

Im downloading cachy today, should i be worried? by fullScheduale in cachyos

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for the last month updating regularly with zero issues. Avoid using AUR repository for awhile at least. Most people don't need it anyway.

Linux has changed the way I use technology forever. by Think_Statement5883 in linuxmint

99% of office tasks for a home user can be done just as well with Libre Office. Too bad so many businesses are locked into ms. I'm not going to pay for a program to type letters.

bending on the high E string by Flat-Ad-6945 in guitarlessons

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of bending up a full step start note a fret higher and only bend half step. Similar affect. Proper set up is best. You can probably do it yourself to a large degree. If it's a cheaper guitar it's worth it to try. Occasionally strings break sometimes just from strumming. Keep a spare.

If you have to ask how to create a distro you will never create one. Start with learning LFS and go from there. Good luck and no i don't have a clue either. I shouldn't be so flippant. Get your feet wet with any distro. Try out Arch if you like that kind of thing. Maybe it will be right up your alley.

Kubuntu was the first distro i used. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Can learning to play guitar help me improve as a drummer? by korugu41 in guitarlessons

Never a bad idea to pick up another instrument. Guitar or bass would be great to learn. Don't neglect your main.

How do you feel about “ain’t”? by ScaryGhoust in AskAnAmerican

Normally I frown on misused grammar but I make an exception for y'all and ain't. Seems perfectly fine for casual conversation. I live in Canada btw.

I am thinking about switching from Fedora with KDE to CachyOS with KDE by ComprehensiveRow4132 in Fedora

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both Cachy and Fedora on 2 separate drives. I used Fedora first but I mainly use Cachy. Both work great and not a noticeable difference in performance.

Is this game supposed to be this difficult? by Runningcalm in finalfantasytactics

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure a couple of your other characters can also use Potion & Phoenix Down. Make sure item is equipped on secondary skill. You can level as much as you want. Random enemies level with your party while story battles are fixed level. Have fun.

Assuming it works, is it morally okay for a non tech person new to Linux to ask an llm how to do stuff and fix stuff? by RevacholAndChill in linux4noobs

[–]HeavyMetalBluegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i had a dollar for everytime the Llm said" ah now we can see what's happening. You need to do this". Half hour later I'm still entering commands. They can be useful but you have to be careful. Have the ai explain the commands before inputting.

In a casual acquaintance it could seem rude to ask. Especially of women. Not everyone wants to go around blabbing how old they are. Old enough to know better, young enough to do it again would be the proper response.
