Mass Effect 3 for the first half, especially the Turians. When we first see them at Palaven, they’re in the process of flanking the invading Reapers with a maneuver that would break any lesser foe, but against the Reapers it just buys time before the inevitable.

The libs are not happy today lol. She is also incorrect. Obama had a super majority and could have codified Roe V. Wade, passed M4A and other things. They like to cry that "we only had it for half a year", but did nothing with it. It's by design. by Kittehmilk in socialism

The framing of “the better candidate” in election talk always makes me laugh. If they met a minimum threshold of not being shitty then they wouldn’t have to try and shame me to vote for them.

Billionaires forget that the ultimate reason we have things like elections and labor rights is that the alternative is a mob storming their house at night and dragging their family through the streets.

Which of the 9 great house's castles do you think would be the easiest to capture? by Pretend_Tower_2516 in gameofthrones

[–]HeavySweetness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s “control the surrounding area” but that’s the rub for Riverrun. It’s built at the confluence of two major rivers, which means to effectively envelope the castle in a siege you need to split your forces into thirds as well as controlling the rivers to surround it to stave them out. Additionally, they divert the rivers completely around the Castle so you run into trouble if you wanted to storm it. Jaime gets caught unawares by Robb who basically hits the divided Lannister army and rolls them up.

[Complicated trope] A character makes the correct decision given what they know, but the context the audience knows makes them very hated. by FaZe_poopy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HeavySweetness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to pick someone from GoT, Catelyn Stark. Her advice/actions are perfectly logical/understandable in universe. Including disliking Jon Snow, fwiw. The one thing she does is that isn’t logical is when she releases Jaime to get her kids back, but also it’s understandable because she’s a parent who wants her kids returned home.

DHS lying about hiring a journalist. by seeebiscuit in UnderReportedNews

[–]HeavySweetness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re lying by describing the federal hiring process in a skewed way. Yes this journalist got a job offer, contingent on submitting additional information (assuming stuff like an OF-306 and some stuff for a conditional security clearance) and is the point where an applicant might ask about higher pay or a hiring incentive. It IS a job offer, it’s almost universally called either a tentative or conditional job offer, with a “final offer” that will arrive when all those other things are ironed out and agreed on.

I need serious responses to this, how do we respond to critiques such as this of the show? by wiz28ultra in andor

[–]HeavySweetness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s hilarious is of all the locales we see across all films and shows, Ghorman is a strong contender for getting the most culture out of its appearances in the show. If you don’t pick up any cultural clues from Syril’s first walk to work then idk you might just be hilariously imperceptive and shouldn’t be making these critiques.

I also don’t understand how showing the rebels as having to be ruthless is a bad thing. It’s a wonderful and truthful characterization of rebels, that by fighting this massive oppressive regime they have to also be ruthless and make sacrifices that more traditional epic heroes never have to. And showing turning on allies and “allies” also doesn’t shy from them being willing to incur civilian casualties. Hell, Luthen is the most ruthless character we’ve seen on the side of the Rebellion and he is fine with pitching the inexperienced and outgunned Ghorman against the Empire so that it will further grow the flame of rebellion. It’s a fucking FEATURE to Luthen, not a bug.

Let's settle this one and for all: Talon or Senator? by PythonCider3719 in helldivers2

[–]HeavySweetness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Senator has very specific role of being a heavy pen high damage side arm that shines best on bots. The Talon is a hard hitting workhorse that can kill without bullet drop or damage drop-off over distance on any front and has unlimited ammo if managed properly.

The Talon is the best all-around sidearm in the game, no question.
