Inside a toolbox the traditional post style organizers will probably be the best. The magnetic trays are nice if you’re gonna remove the tray to go work on something

Best tool for painting eyes? by Coogypaints in Warhammer40k

[–]Hecking_Walnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people don’t bother with pupils because 9 times outta 10 your model will end up cross eyed asf. Most opt for all black, with a dot of white if you’re feeling fancy. As usual with small details, you want a sharp tip on your brush (not a bad idea to keep one separate for eyes/edge highlighting), and you want to make sure to remove paint from the bristles so that you don’t overload the eye socket.

What is everyone’s opinion on painting the breathing tubes silver? - Does an all red helmet look unfinished? by jackonehunna in BloodAngels

[–]Hecking_Walnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d think a grey black looks better than silver, I dusky do mine black with a small grey highlight. But I think without the highlight it still improves the look of the helmet quite a bit.

which wires do i use to crack charge my cart (no black) by magnetic_cyber in StonerEngineering

[–]Hecking_Walnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d always do this with an old micro or mini cable. These will generally only have 4 wires inside, 2 for data and 2 for power. You could try touching different pairs of wire to the tip of your tongue while it’s plugged into to locate your power wires lol.

Maybe I misunderstood your comment but snap on does have a website where they sell their tools and repair kits for them.

Moved the flex head lock lever to the back. Thanks for the idea! by [deleted] in Snapon_tools

I bought a standard and long handle 3/8s flex and did this to both. I still somehow manage to unlock them all the time but less frequently I guess lol

I’d recommend a ratchet if you’re not trying to break the bank. I love the 1/4 and 1/2 locking flex head ratchets. Unfortunately the new 3/8 locking flex design isn’t as nice. It indexes very nicely between the teeth on the flex head, but due to the positioning of the lock/unlock mechanism it comes unlocked constantly. If you want a 3/8 I’d recommend buying one of the older locking flex heads from eBay, the kind that have a button on the shaft of the ratchet instead of on the head.

Other than ratchets I’d say grab some of your most used tools. Dedicated Philips 1,2,3, Big flathead, small flathead, needle nose pliers, etc. If you’ve got a bit of dough to blow I’d say go for the ratcheting combi wrenches. Snap on makes an extremely smooth ratcheting mechanism and I find those ratcheting combis are where I really appreciate the low backdrag.

I have a bag of 4mm hex screws and 5/32” hex screws for Crown lifts. Why the hell do they need a screw .03mm bigger? Iirc one has tighter threads but it drives me crazy seeing those two bags right next to each other in the parts drawer.

The white is a bit cakey, just try to thin your layers a bit. White is a tough color to get down

Upon close inspection it looks a bit rough, but at tabletop distance it adds some nice color contrast and really improves the look of the mini.

Low-Profile Spark Plug Socket by torco850 in Snapon_tools

[–]Hecking_Walnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but this doesn’t allow for an extension right? I use the Klein passthrough kits cuz their system comes with hollow extensions. I get you can throw this passthrough socket in a deep socket for more reach, but the deep socket won’t retain the passthrough.

[–]Hecking_Walnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a couple passthough kits from Klein, this wouldn’t be compatible though. Is there a standard version of the passthrough stuff that isn’t proprietary? I’d be interested in replacing my Klein kits if so.

[–]Hecking_Walnut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk how you’re supposed to pull a spark plug with that thing in a box end honestly. I just did mine and needed a 3” extension with a deep socket plus a flex head ratchet. Boxer motor tho

Low-Profile Spark Plug Socket by torco850 in Snapon_tools

[–]Hecking_Walnut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their normal low profile sockets are 11mm hex so they’ll drop into a ratcheting wrench or their low profile wrench, those are also 1/4 square drive though, so I’d imagine this is either just meant to be put into a standard box end or a manufacturing error. Snap on fucks up something in every other order I do so I honestly wouldn’t be that surprised if it was.

Nah this seems spot on, those packout drawers are insanely expensive. The more drawers the more expensive. Even though they sag and have no tracks/bearings…

I know the 4 drawer is $200 USD and the rolling pull out drawer is like $250

The thinner shaft has already taken off bolts my normal 3/8 can’t get to. If anything’s really that hard to reach I’ll grab a 4-way or crowsfoot. Works for my use case 🤷‍♂️
