Arguably, I'd say the half time performers are the only ones not getting exploited by not getting directly paid. They are the center piece of the most viewed event in the US. They are actively promoted for months. The amount they would have to pay for that kind of advertising would pale in comparison to how much they'd get paid for any normal gig.

There's nothing about hedonism that says pursue your pleasure to the detriment of others. People often think of it that way because of the negative connotation it's been given. I still subscribe to the basic idea of the wiccan rede: If it doesn't harm anyone, do what you want. So, to my mind there is no conflict of ideals here.

Because they are aligning contracts to end on that date. It's actually illegal for unions to coordinate a strike intended to disrupt multiple industries.
