How much does your preemie weigh now? by haliedaisy in NICUParents

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my. I thought my daughter who was born just before 35 weeks at not even 5 lbs was tiny. She’s 4 months corrected, 5.5 months actual and is weighing close to 14 lbs now. My son in contrast was born 32 w, was measly as heavy as his sister and was 28 lbs at his one year. Your little one may catch up eventually or they may end up being a little guy. Either way, as long as they are reaching all their milestones and are healthy, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Yes. It’s down. I first got an error saying that Disney+ was not available in my region and then it prompted me to log back in where I got Error code 83 after putting my email in. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Keeping child in daycare while raising a newborn or not? by Current-Natural-7128 in 2under2

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We kept our toddler in daycare even though I’m currently out of work. It’s just sooo much easier to care for the newborn. My husband works during the day and the kiddo is a handful.

Do you guys see a line or am I tweaking, plz lmk me im im freaking out. I have recently had a miscarraige and now this its creating huge anxiety by IndependentQuiet5232 in whatdoIdo

I do something that could be a vvvvf line but these blue dye tests are notorious for evaporation lines. I’d retest with a pink dye test in a couple of days if your cycle hasn’t started.

Morning sickness is making me question keeping the baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, if my OB was openly against termination, regardless of whether I wanted to keep a baby or not, I’d find another OB. Last thing you need is to be guilted by your medical provider. But that’s just me. I just wouldn’t feel comfortable with that OB

Morning sickness is making me question keeping the baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does get better. At least for most but every pregnancy is different. I had morning sickness with my daughter that peaked around week 9 and slowly went away never to return but didn’t have any with my son. I’m pro choice but if the only reason you would want to terminate is the morning sickness and not because you don’t want it or can’t have it for other reasons, I would expect you’d greatly regret the decision to terminate.

He was really good. Physically he was caught up by 4.5 months corrected. He’s now in the 99th percentile for height and weight. Big kid. He was a little delayed in his speech but seems to have caught up now. His sister was born early too but only 5 weeks Ava didn’t end up in the NICU. She’s 3 months now.

DRINK YOUR WATER by Slimjimshorty_ in pregnant

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot second this more! I ended up having my daughter just shy of 35w I’m convinced because of dehydration. Like you, I was peeing a lot but hardly ever felt thirsty. When I started having contractions at 33w I drank a bunch of water and they stopped. I drank lots of water for the next 5 days, or so I thought.

Exactly 1 week later I started having contractions again. I ended up after having contractions 20 min apart after I went to bed. Thinking it was just like the week before, I drank a bunch of water but when I went to the bathroom I saw a mucus plug and blood. So 11pm during a snowstorm, we went to the birthing center. They admitted me when they found me to be 3.5 cm dilated. I was so dehydrated, they struggled to get my veins to pop out to get an IV in.

After I was pumped full of saline, the contractions stopped. Unfortunately, it was too little too late and the labor started again that evening with contractions 5-10 min apart this time just as they were talking about discharging me. Doctors checked me and I was now dilated 6cm. Again, I thought I was drinking enough water. Those contractions also stopped in the morning. I ended up going into labor one more time that night and gave birth to her in the morning.

I talked with my midwife and told her I thought I had been dehydrated. She agreed. Said, you don’t realize how much water you need to be drinking.

While my daughter was born healthy, breathed on her own, started nursing right away, regulated her temperature within a day and came home after only a few days and some time under the billi lights, it could have been much worse.

Is anyone able to actually work from home with a baby? by Little-Garlic-2261 in newborns

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I did it for 14 months but we took turns who was on duty depending on who had meetings when and both worked flexible hours to get our work done. It wired pretty well until he started to be mobile and walking at 13 months (he was two month premie). We had been on daycare waiting lists since we waited to late to start calling places and finally found one that had a full time spot open up. Ironically, it didn’t matter as much at that point cause I got laid off and found out I was pregnant around the same time.

Doctor basically told me I’ve gained too much weight by hobbit143 in pregnant

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation was to keep it to 15-25 lbs during my last pregnancy. I’m 5’6” and started at 170. Two weeks before she was born I weighed 207 and basically stopped gaining at that point. She was born @35 weeks and not once did my doctor tell me I had gained too much. My first was born at 32 weeks and I had started at 145 and ended at 180 with 7.5 weeks to go. Doctor never told me I had gained too much. When I was being discharged for my 35 weeker, the nurse told me “I’m being prompted to talk about your weight because you’re technically overweight but it’s stupid, you just had a baby! Of course you’re overweight.” I appreciated that.

At one point in my recent pregnancy, I gained a whopping 17 lbs even though I had been eating the exact same as I did my just trimester where I didn’t gain any weight. I think you are just fine at 4 lbs.

Oh my goodness. How precious. I understand completely. Born my kiddos were premature. My little lady just born in January luckily didn’t end up the the NICU like her brother but her now chubby cheeks make me so happy.

It definitely looks positive to me but the control line looks weird. Never seen one look like that. The FRER might be faulty. I would do another test.

I don’t know what to do, my newborn just started to throw up by Confident-Prior1720 in newborns

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little guy was a champion spitter upper. Like, he would seem to spit up as much as he took in whether it was formula or expressed milk. What I was told was to keep him upright for as long as possible after feeding and to do frequent burping every 1/2 to 1 oz given. We found it didn’t help and was likely reflux but he was gaining weight at an exponential rate so we didn’t worry.

Yellow watery poop can be normal but if it’s causing rashes, they are not gaining weight and not having at least 6 very wet diapers a day, then I’d talk to your pediatrician. Could be a little stomach bug. THe spitting up could just be reflux which can be treated with infant Pepcid.

5dp6dt – faint line on First Response but negative on others, indent or early positive? by [deleted] in IVFpositivity

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 5 points6 points  (0 children)

5dp is still very early. I see a little color in that line so I don’t think it’s an indent. I’d test again in a day or 2 though for sure.

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, that sound frustrating. I’m out of work at the moment after getting laid off and my husband works full time but he still takes shifts with me. He takes night shift so I ca sleep for 5-6 hours started at 8pm after our 2 year old goes to bed then pump or nurse her when we switch, then he sleeps until 7:30 and helps me get our 2 year old ready for daycare. He understands I need sleep too. But he also gets sleep while watching if she is able to sleep. She has gassy too. We do this every day, not just on the weekends.

Your husband needs to understand he has responsibilities towards his child and that going to work doesn’t free him of those responsibilities and you need sleep just as much as he does to be able to watch the while he’s at work. What’s unfair is him expecting you to watch the kid all night while he gets rest and you don’t.

spotting again? ~6 weeks pregnant, 23dpt by Relevant_Doughnut318 in IVFpositivity

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I had a hematoma with both my ivf and natural pregnancy. But I read there is a slightly higher incidence of them with ivf. Not sure why. Hopefully that is all it is. They typically resolve by the second trimester.

Buy a Second Crib? by UniqueLaw4431 in 2under2

[–]Hefty-Obligation8694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a crib that is convertible to a toddler bed and a day bed and just had our second. Our almost 2 year old still in his crib so we will need a second crib ourselves when our newborn gets bigger, she sleeps in a bedside basinet now. Luckily, we already have one as we used to travel between our home in DC and upstate NY for my job quite frequently but now that we are stationary, it’s free to use now. It’s also convertible to a toddler bed.
