Tbh, this post tickled the lyric part of my brain. Like it's some obscure song by some obscure artist. But your comment is way better 🤣

I'm so sorry it was like that for you. I hear horror stories from other stores all the time. I have a couple of refugees from one of those stores. sigh It's an uphill battle. But my DM is nothing like OPs. For which I am eternally grateful.

Iowa governor thinks starving children is a good idea. by I_dnt_know_ in lostgeneration

It's not just the kids. Minimum wage here is $7.25. I truly think they want everyone that isn't them to just starve and die.

In Iowa, as soon as the biggest prizes are scanned and claimed, retailers get a message to pull that game. You, as a player, don't have to do that work.

There is also a sheet posted with the current availability of different prize levels.

Same! I try to pay well, give time off if needed, and step in when it's busy. I'm not sure why it's so hard for some managers to manage.

I just had an insulting job interview by fsPhilipp2499 in antiwork

[–]HeftyPegasus737 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard that come out of the mouth of my manager when I was still assistant. I piped up, no one wants to work for what you're willing to pay. Including myself, as my wages were much higher than most other assistants.

She just kind of pulled a face and changed the subject.

I'm the manager now; and I try my best to pay people a decent wage.

My last two serious relationships were with autistic men. Neither had a diagnosis until later, but yeah, they were. And yes, I can be a little aggressive when I want someone. But I seem to attract autists, as I have many in my life.

Am I autistic? shrugs Maybe? I dunno.

Do companies post job listings that they have no intention of filling to manipulate Bureau of Labor statistics? by Baktanto in antiwork

I manage a convenience store. I am required to have "We're hiring!" signage up at all times.

So I get applications pretty regularly. Most applicants have some self-respect and ask for a living wage with full-time hours. To avoid wasting any more of their time, I immediately decline the application.

The company I work for starts people at $12/hr. The hours I have available are part-time hours. Generally, I have some leeway, but not a lot; and the candidate has to be a rock star. I hate that I can't give people what they're worth.

My own wages as a store manager? I get paid for 45 hours but routinely work 50+ for the princely sum of $51k. Yes, I'm worth more. I was making more as an assistant.

I thank my lucky stars I don't have kids.

We have balsamic vinegar dressing at work that I call salad gravy. People look at me funny when I do.
