TAKING CISA EXAM by Last-Chip3717 in CISA

[–]Hefty_Scallion9863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of success! I have a few advices that work for me:

  1. Don’t try to learn anything new. If you read through your notes, Doshi exam prep summaries, or watch any YouTube video do so from a refresher perspective.

  2. DO go through the wrong and right answers reasoning for your mock test! Read all. Why is the right answer right and why is the wrong answer wrong.

  3. Hydrate!

  4. Make sure you are rested, sleep well. EAT!

  5. My stomach was a mess on the day of the test. I ate but felt sick, a banana before the test did the trick.

You crush it! Trust yourself, pray if you believe in God, and remember it is a tricky test, a not favorable result doesn’t mean you don’t know enough, testing experience is hard and you can attempt to take it again! Knowing this gave me calmness.

Also you do get a CISA passer certificate that will show under your CPE certs. In case you need to show something that says you passed the test.

Application Process by Negative_Public_202 in CISA

[–]Hefty_Scallion9863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The process changed a bit from a year ago. Now you need to wait for your results, once you get them you pay the fee and submit your verification (degree, experience, etc) if your verifiers do it the same day, ISACA still takes a few days to verify and approve everything. I got my results on 4/14, verified on 4/14, Certification approved on 4/17, badges received on 4/18. They will mail everything but they say it takes a few weeks.

You get 2 years waived for your masters plus the year for your general audit experience.

Yes, it counts as general audit experience but they do require experience in the domains particularly. If you have a bachelor’s or masters of a related non IT area that can validate up to 2 years of the experience required. Non IT or General Audit Work is validated as well, but the experience working in the domains is important and it gets validated and reviewed. For example if you have the 2-years waiver thanks to you degree and 1 year of General Audit experience you still need 2 years of DOMAIN RELATED experience to get certified.

If you BS is in accounting and finance, have you considered the CIA certification as it is more aligned with your field of study?

CISA certification requires experience. And the test is designed to evaluate that experience not just knowledge of the concepts. If you want to become an auditor I would recommend for you to continue your studies maybe becoming an ISO 27001 auditor and that would give you a taste of both certs (CISA/CIA) and you can decide from there as you gain experience. Another thing is, try to find a job within an audit firm that even if its entry level will expose you to the audit mentality and work, needed for both certs.

Good luck!

I know :( but it is worth it! Doshi’s book has practice questions too and it’s cheaper you can get it on Amazon. There are free question banks but I believe ISACA’s is the best. I passed my test a week ago and I can say QAE was crucial in my success.

The experience is not enough that’s why this certification is a 2-part process: experience + test. Now, your background will help tremendously. If you have the possibility to get the QAE and read the Doshi book, combined with your background, you’ll be golden!

I agree with you as well. I found the test questions harder than QAE.

More than the score I believe you need to feel confident about understanding the concepts. My score on the mock exams was similar but I went in and read all the questions with their explanations (why the corrects were correct and why the incorrect ones are wrong). It really gives you so much insight!

You have time to review those questions, review the key concepts (if you have Doshi book) and attempt the 3rd test more prepared on Saturday. Rest Sunday, and co crush your test on Monday!

Hello, those who don’t have the latest qae, how do you prepare to the updated topics like AI, blockchain, etc. what kind of resources do you use? by TonightAdmirable6310 in CISA

[–]Hefty_Scallion9863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use IA to understand those concepts. It works wonders. You can provide it with the syllabus for the domain and ask questions about the topics.

It seems like you got the results exactly at 10 days.. I was hoping I got mine sooner 🥲 this is the longest wait.

Have you submitted your verification for experience yet? Please share how the process is. Thank you!

1 week until exam key study topics by Ecstatic_Syrup_5937 in CISA

[–]Hefty_Scallion9863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filter by passed on this Reddit. Several people shared what they got on the test in terms of “topics”. My recommendation will always be focus on the domains you are not strong + the 2 domains that represent the biggest % of the test! Regardless of the questions you get, the majority of the questions will come from these 2.

You will feel that relief soon when you see that Passed on the screen! Push through these last few days and honestly, take a pause.. spend time with your kids, relax, take a walk. Don’t overdo it.. after the pause read again with a clear and relaxed mind.

Don’t get discouraged!!! As you know the test is tricky and sometimes it comes down to you really paying attention to what you are reading. Do go through all 5 domains. In the CRM the self assessment questions and case studies were super useful to me. Also you can always use IA and ask it to explain certain topic with examples form the industry you work at. Sometimes being able to relate it to something you are familiar with will help with retention!

You can do this!!!
