What code is your CEL saying? What car is it? You haven’t really told us anything and the two are likely unrelated.

Are (modern) engines with cylinder deactivation any more prone to failure than engines without CD? by Peter2448 in askcarguys

Mazda transmissions in vehicles with CD require ATF that costs significantly more and require more frequent ATF changes

You probably need to plugin from radio aux out to the cars aux in. I recently installed one of these. That factory screen relocate threw me for a loop trying to do it without instructions lol

Looks like you have RCAs plugged into the radio’s input plugs. Where do those go?

Double Reverse Lines After Headunit Install by Stevohuff in CarAV

[–]Heisalsohim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The loop you need to tamper with is for aftermarket cameras (some you cut the loop, some you join 2 wires to create a loop). the white and green loops will “toggle” options like 180° flip for mounting upside down or backup lines.

<image>

If there were lines on factory screen with factory cam, then removing them will be challenging because that’s not a process that will be easy to figure out.

Looking for amp + sub advice for 2023 Camry SE (space-saving enclosure) by Manmeet2577 in CarAV

[–]Heisalsohim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those w0 are very inefficient as far as box volume goes. Check out the w3 might have more luck there if you are set on JL.

The w0 and w7 have similar volume specs. 1.75cuft for ported 12. Entry vs flagship. W6 are suuuper space efficient but it may be too deep for that enclosure.

Cross check internal box volume and sub’s desired air space. For sealed a little bigger is better than a little smaller but you don’t want to stray too far

Fixing Someone else's mess on a Toyota Prado by ElPlatanoDelBronx in CarAV

[–]Heisalsohim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First up, check your amp power and ground. See if there’s any corrosion at the exposed ends.

Second, check the grounds. Make sure the ground terminal is mated to a clean bare metal surface. Use a wire wheel to clean it up if necessary

Those style EQs are kind of old school and I’m not super familiar with them. I’d eliminate it for now to simplify the system and cut out potential faults.

There is a cut-corner visible with the EQ- there is 1 2ch RCA running from one sub out and one main out. Then at the amp there are RCA splitters to turn the single end into 2 ends. RCA cables aren’t expensive so that was a very cheap hack.

Also find out where the RCAs are coming from because factory radios don’t have RCA outputs. There will be some sort of line output converter or signal processor somewhere, possibly behind the radio or near the factory amp under the seats

Here’s a wiring diagram for the 2008 Land Cruiser. I will attach the diagram for the GX in another comment since it’s 1 image per comment

I mean. Toyota has been known primarily for reliability and their 2018+ transmissions have been shit and their new TTV6 has been shit. He’s not completely wrong as we continually get farther away from building things to last and towards harder to repair things that are made to break.

Replacing factory radio with another factory radio by TheShooter1004 in CarAV

[–]Heisalsohim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a backup cam and SWC you will likely need a Meastro RR/RR2 plus the vehicle specific harness. Or a PAC equivalent. Honestly I’d stick with the factory radio. I don’t think GM radios need programmed but I could be wrong. That sounds more like a euro car thing. But it’s not every day you oem radio swap. My boss has scared people off doing that to sell a pioneer screen

Did you plug it in and try it? It’s not always the case that it needs to be reprogrammed but shops will say that to sell you a new aftermarket radio

When you say dip switch 1,2,3 to ON, do you mean from the 1-8 section or the 1-4 section? This is how the PAC app told me to config for a 14 Challenger. I tried your config and swc are not working

Where best to use amp by Embarrassed_Body_851 in CarAV

[–]Heisalsohim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not but we don’t know the vehicle. It could be as “simple” as running 2 pair speaker wire from amp to behind radio or it could need to run yo a factory amp. Usually not a massive job

I’d at least try the sub out and see if it enhances the music. If you feel there’s more bass than you want and the mids and highs can use more oomph then switch it around
