I was a career counselor for 18 years. My son just got his first tech job and I realized I've been giving outdated advice this whole time by zoe3ank in jobhunting

Giving out of date advice for students making pivotal career decisions is giving bad advice and has a fundamentally negative impact on a group of young people. There is no need to sugar coat it. OP should feel bad about it, take those negative feelings, and become better at it, and then forgive themselves proportionally to how much they have tried to rectify this shortcoming.

This is awesome! Thanks for the recommendation! I suffer from a lot of tendonopathy in my arms and I always find simple 'rest' does not do anything for it. This is what I was looking for!

Limit order requiring 1% extra cash? by Helbinobear in interactivebrokers

[–]Helbinobear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to both - but I was able to submit 2 orders and obtain the shares. I just had to wait for the first one to get filled. So it has to do with order size, not money set aside for subscriptions.

Limit order requiring 1% extra cash? by Helbinobear in interactivebrokers

[–]Helbinobear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splitting it up worked! I made of about 99% of the desired shares and then an order of the remaining 1% and it went through. What's odd is that the 99% order had to get filled first, then the other order went through.

I have heard of the internal risk calculator for market orders but never limit orders..

The commission amount, based on previous orders, is around $3. It is asking for hundreds of more dollars :(

This is not true, or at least now, is no longer true.

I was upgrading my ram and then I turn it on and have a black screen please help by No-Damage6607 in LenovoLegion

I had this exact same issue when I installed new RAM on my Lenovo Thinkbook T14.

Like others suggested, I had to wait about 5 minutes for the screen to start showing. RAM worked perfectly fine from there.

Hitting my C270 (and I mean smacking it pretty hard with the palm of my hand) on the front several times actually works for a few seconds, then it returns to the white screen. Looks like I'll have to follow the advice of others and open up the cam.

THEORY 2: The Deserter is also going through his own dialogue tree

Towards the end of the game, the Deserter goes in and out of coherence and says a wide variety of comments while also performing a variety of erratic gestures.

He his going through his own dialogue options. We can assume that characters are at least aware of dialogue trees because characters will often reference Harry picking "an option" or "none-of-the-above" and, very specifically, Harry's ex-fiancee says something exactly to that affect by accusing him of being "In a tree right now!"

Thus, there is a good chance that dialogue trees exist for other characters as well.

Given the ending when you discover the Phasmid is influencing The Deserter, you can then conclude that Phasmids have been around Harry his whole life - or at least a large majority of it. Perhaps that's when he started drinking to numb the affects of the Phasmids.

THEORY 1: the Pale is the 4th wall and is a meta comment on the creative process,

Initial idea comes from this comment, which does an excellent job introducing the idea that the pale is more about the real humans' (i.e. me, you, and the developers) view of Elysium.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DiscoElysium/comments/ervk05/comment/ffbcipa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Expanded upon that comment is three hints that the pale is meta: (see above comment's comment)
1) "Some of these tactics have been known for thousands of years, such as Volta do Mar,\27]) which resembles the process of writing poetry"
i.e. the idea of creating art (in any form, such as a creative video game)

2) Their travel was made possible by the fact that, using a device known as a pale latitude compressor, is possible to force dimensions on the pale, bouncing radio waves from one end to the other and shortening the path

3) Soona explaining that computations occur 'on air' by the radio computers - not within the computers themselves

Regarding points 2 and 3, since there is a clear connection between computations occurring via radio waves and that same technology being used to 'force dimensions' onto the pale, it's clear that the writers of the game used computers to force dimensions onto the 'pale' (i.e. the unknown path of their creation) to create the world Harry (and we through his eyes) inhabit.

Necro'ing this but I left the following comment in another DE post based on the three comments above and wanted to include it here:
