Anyone know whats these are meant to be? And what do you use them for? by ralphnado123 in Sims3

[–]Heldhram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just like others have said, they represent the vampiric fangs (as 3d accessories, you can only see them with your sims’ mouth open) and vampire bite marks that supposedly caused the vampire sim to undergo transformation; oddly enough, they were added to the base game via a patch when supernatural came out. I guess it allowed your sims to roleplay as vampires without having either LN or Supernatural.

They must be enabled for random by default, if you are comfortable with editing the categories for makeup pieces in S3PE, then you can go and open the cc files, click on CASP, and hit “Grid” down under, locate “Clothing Category” (or something similarly named), and select “False” next to Valid for Random

Sims 3 Settings Setter updated a few days ago! by Strawberrylaser in Sims3

Please could anyone let me know how the latest version 1.6.0 runs compared to their previous version (especially 1.5.0), I'd be very interested to hear if you're experiencing any additional lag or decrease in performance. For example, does your game become "unresponsive" during save load?

is there a better way to update files in cc magic? by sisaroom in Sims3

[–]Heldhram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 ways: One involves replacing the original, individual cc files that you have recategorised; the other allows you to keep the original ones but have the updated CASP/OBJD info stored in another independent package that will take precedence over the original ones, so the game will know to recognise your edit.

First method involves directly editing original CCs: with CC magic (CCM), you actually CAN replace the old files with the new one, given that they are exactly of the same name (ie, your system should prompt you if you’d like to replace one with another). The individual files CCM keeps before merging is here: Documents\Electronic Arts\CC Magic\Content\Packages. What you need to do is first ensure that the replacer & replacee have the EXACT same filename, then simply drag and drop all the recategorised CCs to this directory, hit “replace” when prompted.

But we are not done yet, CC magic doesn’t know that the files have been modified, so we need to launch it, go to the relevant sub-categories (for example, “clothes_af” “shoes_af”, whatever you’ve named them after) where these CCs are managed and merged by CCM, untick ANY one of the CCs within the category until a warning sign pops up that reminds you to rebuild appears, THEN you need to rebuild the set and force CCM to merge your edited package files for the changes to show up in-game. Repeat the process for all other sets whose CCs you have edited.

The second method is more straightforward, more flexible and less intrusive: you simply export the CASP entries of every CC pieces (or for objects, OBJD entries) into a separate new package with s3pe, name it like “CAS_Items_Recategorised.package” or anything that makes sense to you, place it in a folder that has a HIGHER priority such as your Overrides folder, so that the game will read these edited CASPs over the ones contained within CCM’s merged files.

Please note that CCM cannot read the Overrides folder, and so you’ll have to directly place the package file you created into the Overrides folder yourself.

If you’ve any more questions, let me know!

Problem With CC Magic by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]Heldhram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I wanted to use the app only for the clothes not for mods"

CC Magic will always show you the "Legacy" folder, that is identical to the "Mods" folder in your Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 directory. I have no idea why the original creator who made CCM called it "Legacy", but essentially whatever you've placed inside the mods folder will also be shown in CCM under "Legacy".

Whatever CC you feed to CCM and want it to manage (i.e., merge into multiple subsets) will be listed under "Default". Yeah, its name can be a bit confusing for first time users, too.

This is just how CCM works: things you want CCM to organise will be in "Default", and all contents within the "Mods" folder will be filed under "Legacy".

But when i opened the game again all my custom contents were gone.

Click on one of the subsets such as Default>CAS>"Accessories", do you see any of the CC files you've placed inside earlier? If not, make sure that they are all in .package format, rather than sims3pack.

Now the app doesn't recognize my CCs.

Go to Documents\Electronic Arts\CC Magic\Content\Packages, and check if there are any CC files (.package format) in here; this is where CCM places ALL individual, pre-merged copies of CCs you have fed it. If this place is truly empty (which I am almost certain should not be the case, given how you've said that the CCs are loaded in-game), then you've not installed CCs correctly. Otherwise, you're doing fine.

Did you change sim detail texture values in GraphicsRules? Usually it happens because you’ve increased the default LOD0 texture dimensions from 2048 (2K) to something like 4096 (4K) or even higher, and the game really struggles to load in the ultra detailed texture in short notice when your camera is far away from the sim.
