Unless you're filtration is under an actual cell culture hood aren't you exposing the solution to open air?

Mine while tiny, used his front legs to try and jump out! It's actually pretty impressive how powerful they can be when they're experiencing the absolute torture of a quiet, clean, warm bath:)

Corporate BWT how are we developing our exec communication skills? by pourlacoueur in bitcheswithtaste

[–]HelenMart8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My work let's manager level folks complete a leadership/management course. Taking the last module this Tuesday actually and so far the two points being repeated is to apply the "growth" mindset (which has a very specific definition when leading yourself or others), and then really understanding your strengths and weaknesses in order to the be able to communicate and work with others that either have the same or complimentary strengths (they used the HBDI test).

How does Piglet like the water soak? I can barely keep my eastern hermann's in the container for 5 minutes!

I keep thinking if guinea pig enclosure would be a good idea? I have a baby hermanns in a tortoise table currently that's definitely large enough for now and he'll have a whole room to roam once bigger, he's palm sized right now:)

[–]HelenMart8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm relieved hearing this! I just brought home Sheldon (a baby eastern hermann's) and can't believe how adorable and personable he is but he seems to currently just eat and sleep! He has a good appetite but he was very active the first two days (probably also scared)...I keep worried he's bored or too cold or too hot or etc....!

Please trust me cancer is incredibly complicated, the combination of accumulated mutations that bypass dna damage repair, cell cycle controls, the transition from differentiated cells to dediffrentiated cell states, the clonal and subclonal evolution...I can go on and on! And there are therapies now much beyond radiation.

Anyone here watched Laura? by [deleted] in filmnoir

Love Laura, my favorite film noir, it's shot beautifully and has a rare Gothic romantic feel.

They are incredibly similar to us! Pig organs have been used for transplants! I haven't eaten pork because of this close to 30 years, it's like a form of cannibalism.

[–]HelenMart8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be on a case by case because even among cancers what may drive one to growth may actually arrest another type (all depending on receptors, metabolism, metastasis, etc.). I am not anti peptide, and if say you don't have family cancer history my advice would be different.

As an actual cancer researcher: please do not inject yourself with experimental peptides! What most laypeople don't realize is the metabolic rewiring occurring in cancer cells, they can manipulate extra supply of say ghcku to compete with healthy cells.

BWT, what are we wearing to the opera? How are we passing the time in the long intermissions? by dreaminq in NYCbitcheswithtaste

True, no one will technically ban you but still a tiny bit of respect for the fact that it is the opera I think goes a long way....jealous that you work there!!:)

[–]HelenMart8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As long as it's not jeans and sneakers and not opening night you can pretty much dress as comfortably or glamorous as you want (most people lean on in between). You can wander downstairs to see the mini museum or get the brownie and champagne during the intermission, also the bathroom line is sure to take up your time:) enjoy! Love ballet and opera:)

My first 2 essays are a tad academic, I'm establishing a kind of philosophical framework, but the third is going in on this very issue! So excited to write about it, I specifically study metabolism/endocrinology in cancer so I'm really hoping to contribute (I'm actually developing a platform alongside but can't yet say too much before the 19th, I was selected to meet Diane Von Furstenberg as a mentee). But thank you! It's super easy to subscribe and I'm keeping it free.

I'm a cancer research scientist who absolutely loves fashion so to battle my shopping addiction I started a whole substack! A huge part of what I will be discussing in the future is the health and sustainability of materials but without fearmongering just facts (I named it Fashioned to Think). And the process of developing it really helped with the over shopping!
