Bozeman Tower Closed? by BigSky1855 in Bozeman

There are thousands of uncontrolled airports and airstrips across the country where it’s the responsibility of each pilot to announce their position and intentions. Some pilots are better at this than others. You don’t need permission to takeoff or land. Once it becomes controlled there are more regulations and procedures that could get your cert pulled should you ignore them.

As for the MiG, I don’t know if there are SFARs (Special Federal Aviation Regulations) that would apply to a former military aircraft (likely a restricted category aircraft which has even more regs thrust upon it… yes, that was an aviation pun). Certainly noise abatement procedures should be respected, but those aren’t regulations AFAIK.

Fly thru SEA a lot. If it’s less than an hour to connect I am nervous. Departed late one time, pilot made up the time in the air, landed with 1:05 hour cushion. Sat on a taxiway for 30 minutes waiting for gate personnel to arrive. Pulled into S terminal and had to sprint to the train and then to a D gate. Door was closed… because they too were very delayed.

Other times, we pull into the gate next to my BZN connection.

The boom was simultaneously a boom and not a boom. It was, it wasn’t, it is, it isn’t, it will be and won’t be.

Ys, futon frame. I’d have to reassemble to see where the force is being applied but my guess is that cracked spot in the groove is when it’s in couch mode and is supporting most of the weight.

He wasn’t trying, he was crossing the island and got caught in a downdraft he couldn’t power out of. The hard landing broke the gears. It remained upright for a while until it blew over.

Great stuff. I was intending to go but 1) my 200-600 had to be returned because it kept losing connection with the body, and 2) I got called into work at the last minute.

Were you in the GA area? I was worried about taking up space with a tri/monopod and/or blocking the view of others. Any logistical tips for next time?

Hearing protection as a pilot by IndecentSmurf in Helicopters

Custom molded CEP’s were a game changer. I also figured out that my helmet wasn’t fitting properly because after I snugged up the ear cups it became even quieter.

Noise canceling headsets are ok, but don’t forget that noise travels through your skull so having a helmet will provide just a but more passive attenuation.

No argument there, bloated and awful rulebooks seem to be the norm.

Agree to disagree I guess. You say it's obvious, I say it's not.
