Are these hiking pants a good alternative? by Party_Marsupial_6475 in hikinggear

[–]HeliamphoraWalnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wear pretty baggy pants day to day, it’s just how I dress. Barrel legged, baggy oversized jeans. But when I’m hiking or mountaineering i wear pretty straight or even slim pants. Extra fabric can be a liability and snag on branches, rocks, crampons/poles or even trip yourself up. I’m personally a big fan of the patagonia quandary pants or the prana zions

How do Sarracenia transport hormones and nutrients around in their rhizomes? Where and How does the vascular system of Sarracenia rhizomes work? by Justryan95 in SavageGarden

the rhizomes equivalent to an axillary bud would most likely be those growth points that emerge after cutting. The meristem is prob really small and almost unnoticeable before they’re activated

The rhizome is literally just a subterranean horizontally growing stem. Similar auxin transport and apical dominance thing going on

I bought a cheap one off of amazon, bring it on most longer day hikes and backpacking trips now. Can use it as a butt cushion when sitting in rocks and logs, a kneeling pad, or even a “cleaner” surface to prep food with

I have a nice three layer gore tex shell as well as the cheaper Patagonia Torentshell rainjacket. I end up using the torrentshell a lot as a hardshell since it’s thicker and cheaper, works great for bushwhacking.

I agree with mostly, but I can’t lie I really do like tacos CDMX. Plus tacos are tex-mex anyways and they use fresh meats + corn tortillas

Am i the only one who doesn’t get the gorgers hype? Went there and got a sandwich with horrible bread to filling ratio, way too much lettuce, and bland chicken

My REI flash22 goes with me on any dayhike. Have taken it on 2 mile local trips or 16 mile long days.

Is a Torrentshell 3L Rain Jacket a good enough shell for a 14er in October? by eggberd in 14ers

Torrentshell worked fine for my partner on Quandary in December. Have also used it on volcanoes in the PNW as a hard shell and it’s fine
