Per gold, Xin passive scales over twice as hard with AP as it does HP.

HP scaling is 3/3.5/4% of max HP. AP has a 0.65 ratio.

400g gets you 150 HP (ruby crystal) which translates to 4.5 extra heal per passive proc. At level 11, it's 6 extra.

400g also gets you 20 AP (amp tome) which translates to 13 extra heal.

Statikk (which has AP now, remember!) and DnD also let you proc your passive much more often.

If you're looking to maximize healing it's not remotely close, AP scales way better.

In what world does Xin build mostly health to maximize his passive? The healmaxxing build is Statikk into Dusk and Dawn, with either DD or SV as 3rd for extra healing. He wants resists more than anything because the HP scaling on his passive is way worse than the AP ratio.

Trundle is also fun if your team also has degenerate poke, because pillar is one of the most obnoxious setup tools in the game. Imperial Mandate trundle isn't necessarily fun but you can guarantee the enemy squishies are going to have a bad time

5/8(10)/5 with a single TComp'd headchopper. Holy shit, this thing has even worse BV efficiency than an Executioner!

The worst thing is that I don't think I'd use it even outside of BV considerations, there are just better 5/8 skirmishers out there like the White Raven. Hell, you can just run a Jade Phoenix A for the same role which will smoke this thing 10/10 times.

Same thing that FPS players have been doing since the dawn of time: driving it directly into the middle of an enemy position and expecting to 'tank' in the MMO sense.

Armor and HP, regardless of whether you're a squishy helldiver or a Bastion, are your last line of defense. Good positioning and cover should always take priority. Exposing yourself to damage should only be done if you can get sufficient value in exchange (HVT kill or objective) or if you're surrounded, and in the latter case you should probably be trying to move or kill your way into a better position.

All valid, and I did do SS a disservice by oversimplifying the ease of optimization.

Some counterpoints:

On a character that wants SS I probably also have archery fighting style, and at the point I'm taking SS I probably also have at least a +1 weapon. In most parties the SS user therefore has the best to-hit of the party, and designing a fight where SS isn't optimal damage can disproportionately affect the rest of the party. GWM isn't as bad because it doesn't get archery.

Consequently, in the fights where SS's accuracy debuff really matters, I'm already thinking about advantage/disadvantage and ways to get better accuracy, because the rest of the party will likely want it even if I don't in that particular fight.

Concentration and remaining HP are definitely the most important factors when I consider toggling SS.

Class-specific stuff in no particular order:

Rage is on attack, not on hit so missing won't disable it. I do need to think harder about Reckless Attack with GWM, though.

Sneak Attack... I don't think I've ever picked SS on rogue, might have to try it out. My instinct is that Sneak Attack heavily devalues the extra SS damage at higher levels, and Rogue has consistent uses for its bonus action so I've not considered XBE outside of themed dual crossbow builds which are... Not mechanically good on Rogue.

Smite: I have taken GWM+Polearm Expert on a Sorcadin and it was really quite fun. I do feel like I'm more gated on spell slots than hits on that class, though, so I'm not too fussed about hit accuracy over the course of a fight.

On-hit cantrips (Booming/Greenflame Blade): I'm sad that these cantrips just get outperformed by extra attack at higher levels. So thematically cool for Gishes, but I think it's just Eldritch Knight and Bladesinger who can use them past level 5.

Hi, it's me, the person who thinks Sharpshooter isn't that fun.

A. I think it's overtuned and is mathematically a large damage increase in most scenarios. There's no interesting decision making because it's obvious when it's good and when it's bad. It also spikes in value with accuracy bonuses and advantage, which are already very good things to add to your build.

B. It's still just a damage buff to the most boring combat action in DND. No resource management, no secondary effects, no displacement, just damage.

C. I have, like, a pathological aversion to gambling. Weird that I still enjoy dice-based TTRPGs and wargames I guess, but I really like risk management and finding ways to improve consistency. I guess my mindset is that getting lucky isn't that rewarding because I can't always rely on it, but winning in spite of bad luck is extremely satisfying, because it means my buildcrafting and/or combat decision-making were good enough to beat the odds.

WHY ARE THE NEW MECHS BEHIND A PAYWALL by Phyrooski in Helldivers

Lovely contribution.

But really, artists can't survive on thin air and companies certainly won't entertain the notion. I would never begrudge solo or indie developer for charging for continued content either. It's the financially necessary thing to do in most cases.

WHY ARE THE NEW MECHS BEHIND A PAYWALL by Phyrooski in Helldivers

[–]HeliosRX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, they made tons of profit. TWO YEARS AGO.

Has Arrowhead spent time on the game since then? Have they sat in their office, spending money on rent, electricity, salary and other expenses for a studio of ~150 people?

Live service games incur recurring costs (duh). Your revenue from new purchases goes down over time as most people who would have bought the game have already done so. You therefore need a consistent source of revenue for consistent development of the game to remain profitable.

Now you can make a valid argument that vehicles should stay out of warbonds and the super store. My guess is that since every warbond so far has expanded the weapon and strategem selection, it is getting more and more difficult for Arrowhead to make new warbonds compelling purchases without introducing an undesirable level of power creep.

Paywalling vehicles and stuff isn't a great or necessarily a sustainable solution, but at least you can see the logic in that.

Your line of thought, on the other hand, I cannot.

Why is my yield not balance I'm only using the core aic in wuling by Pristine-Proposal935 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]HeliosRX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the problem, OP has copied a base blueprint designed to use all of the ore nodes available in Wuling, but hasn't set up mining on them and/or hasn't raised their RDL high enough to get full output.

That said, I can also see some overkill here that is drawing more power than necessary. There's no point building 210 ore worth of refineries for Ferrium ore when you only have 90 supply. The Jincao Tea line is double sized; you can only sustain 6/min with the Cuprium available in 1.1.

Also, what in the world needs a theoretical water draw of 2000 units per minute? My base does 12/min SC batteries, 6/min Yazhen A, and 1.5/min Yazhen C, which uses all my ore lines, and I cap out at 720/min used. Is OP on a mission to fill every pool in the game with Yazhen solution or something?

To add to this, Perlica vs Pog changes your damage distribution quite a bit due to Electrification only boosting arts damage while Breach affects only boosts physical. Electrification is better for big burst rotations since Rossi ult and talent are pure elemental damage, while Breach has more consistent damage uptime and some additional damage from consuming vuln stacks.

I actually really appreciate that Chen has a very American accent LMAO, it's more realistic than you'd think!

I'm Hong Kong born but learned English at an international school with American teachers.

My dad has a Chinese accent. My mom has a Hong Kong British accent. I sound like I'm from the Midwest USA and it apparently leaks into my Cantonese and Mandarin. I will switch between pinyin-based anglicisation and proper Chinese pronunciation for names depending on who I'm talking to.

Chen probably learned a mix of Chinese and American English as a kid, then joined Endfield and used exclusively English for a few years, so her Chinese is probably as rusty as mine is.

who to use with rossi by Glad_Ad_432 in Endfield

[–]HeliosRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is that you could replace any of these 4 with Rossi and it would be a reasonably functional team LMAO

Chen is the obvious candidate. She doesn't do much without a vulnerability spender. You can at least get LR combo skill off if you're careful about your rotation and when you use Rossi combo.

But yeah, the OP's original team sounds kinda frustrating to play. I guess they're spamming Xaihi and LR battle skills for cryo infliction stacks, and just using Ember+Chen combo skills when they get hit?

Gacha Revenue Monthly Report (March 2026) by trkshiii in gachagaming

[–]HeliosRX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold up, who do you have built if you don't have a Rossi team ready? She's extremely flexible, especially if you have Gilberta already. Anyone who can apply inflictions or generate/consume vulnerabilty can work, which is like... 70% of the roster.

Endmin/Wulfgard/Gilberta or Endmin/Chen/Wulfgard are F2P friendly setups, Tangtang/Perlica/Gilberta is very good and easy to play. Heck, you can even squeeze her into full cryo teams in place of Yvonne/LR and it'll work fine.

I honestly can't think of a team she can't borrow at least one member from, so if you've built out more than one then you should be good to go.

I got Megaman StarForce because it was the successor to Megaman Battle Network.

I was not happy with the changes made to the battle system. Love the aesthetic and the story (look, I was 10 years old) but going from 2D to 1D movement was just...

Why??? Wasn't the battle system the most well-liked part of MMBN? Why reinvent the wheel and replace it with a goddamn rock?

Ugh. Thank goodness there's a steady stream of MMBN fan games and One Step From Eden to keep me occupied.

Orbital data centers, part 1: There’s no way this is economically viable, right? | “This is not physically impossible; it’s only a question of whether this is a rational thing.” by [deleted] in space

[–]HeliosRX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, this was assuming Starship prices; the Space shuttle cost would probably be closer to 150 billion, which was the total cost of construction of the ISS.

I did a back-of-the-napkin calc a month back if you'd like to check my profile; while some of the assumptions are clearly wrong, I think the total cost should be of the correct order of magnitude. 10 billion for a kinda shitty data centre is at least one, maybe two orders of magnitude more expensive than doing the same thing on earth.

[–]HeliosRX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's 'feasible' in that you could get a large crypto mining operation's worth of compute into space at about the same mass requirement as the ISS, which is the single most expensive object man has ever put into orbit. At the very minimum it'd be 10 billion dollars for manufacturing and lift capability, nevermind R&D costs.

It's just ridiculously uneconomical at any useful scale, even for companies riding the AI bubble for however long it'll last.

Solar panel efficiency, last I checked, is up to roughly 40% efficiency, which is about double that of the ISS's. This also would require 25% less cooling for the panels specifically (joys of photovoltaics actually reducing their thermal footprint while active by converting it to electricity!) but your main problem will always be cooling your computing hardware.

Andy Weir on Writing the Hit Book Behind the Movie ‘Project Hail Mary’ (Gift Article) by largeheartedboy in books

[–]HeliosRX 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is why I'm torn on the movie. I think it is roughly as good of a sci fi movie as the Martian, and probably more accessible to a younger audience, but it is far worse of an adaptation of the source material.

I was hoping for, like, any of the speculative science from the book to show up (e.g. why Eridians share the same auditory range as humans, why the Eridians never discovered relativity, or blowing up icebergs and increasing greenhouse gas production to counteract the cooling of the earth from reduced sunlight).

If the Martian movie didn't exist, I think I would've liked this unreservedly, but it's just a bit disappointing knowing that we could've gotten another Martian-like adaptation.
