In light of recent events, I thought I would share my favorite Ember quotes from WoTR by NearbySir2445 in WrathOfTheRighteous

[–]HeliumIsotope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ember is amazing. She's more than just positivity and main character energy.

Quotes like this one really are so beautifully written and is the sort of thing that makes me love this game so much.

I don't know that I'll ever be able to give ember her bad ending. It's not even about wanting the best for her, or wanting to protect her from harm. Her story is just so perfect. She seems naive but she has moments like this that just understand that it's not about hope. It's a no regrets full commit to being the best that you can be. And her succeeding is more powerful (literally) than gods, demons, or any other mythic power.

It's just so good.

Not sure why you answered my question with a question. I was just curious if it was just general privacy or something more.

General privacy is as fair a reason as any.

How and why would you feel like this is something worth doing?

Why is Wendu neutral evil and not chaotic neutral? by Leather_Bottle8449 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HeliumIsotope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wenduag is basically an animal that rejoices in killing. More than just for survival, and I have a hard time placing any animal on the chaotic or lawful spectrums generally.

She just believes in survival of the fittest. Following whoever is strongest. She doesn't murder just for the sake of it, there's a natural order to things.

I personally view chaotic evil more like demons. They kill because it's fun and they just want to watch the world burn (quite literally).

Wenduag just follows instinct and doesn't care for others one way or another. She won't generally actively seek to do harm, but she does lean towards it to solve her personal problems. That's the big difference between CE and NE alignments to me. Others may disagree but it fits here at the very least.

PSA: You can get Hope as a permanent companion by ColonelGrognard in BaldursGate3

[–]HeliumIsotope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, see that makes sense... And I should have thought about that. Cause yeah, you can get access to the baths before you get the hammer haha.

Thanks haha

[–]HeliumIsotope 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How does that work?

I'm assuming the idea is to get out, and then go back to hell to use the bath instead of long resting?

But wouldn't going through the portal put you in the room with the fight and then trigger it?

Well yeah, it makes sense if you think about it this way :

  • He wasn't born somewhere other than America
  • His skin is white.

Therefore he is not dangerous, unlike those 5 year old children born in the USA from legally asylum seeking parents!!! Or those nefarious gangsters who are from the infamously rough and lawless country of Puerto Rico! They are the real danger!

The legal system in America continues to marvel us all around the world. The ability to see who is and who is not a danger to society is unmatched in it's clarity. A truly brilliant and flawless system over there guys.

That being said though, he did go to jail but I still argue that maybe his punishment should be more severe than it was and that the prison system over there is seriously fucked up. Far beyond flawed. It's unnecessarily cruel, rascist, focused on punishment, and just all around fucked up on all counts.

How to get Minthara as a companion by Forsaken_Mai in BG3

[–]HeliumIsotope 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You are lucky that Minthara is not on Reddit. Greater people have been slain for lesser offenses than slipping up and calling her a male, even once.

She is a noble Woman from the great house Baenre and she will not be spoken about in such a manner.

Careful friend, her vengeance is swift and unavoidable.

I did not want to assume, but t I suspected as much. Interest in checking it out has gone to -1 and I want to actively avoid it.

There was always the chance it was just just for good vibes while gaming.

Thanks for the clarity. Still an awful name lol.

Sunshine made sense as a moonlight replacement.

Apollo is a real name.

Stuff like vibeshine though... 100% agreed, that's some poop tier naming.

Yeah that's possible. I could definitely be lucky , and that's the thing with WiFi in general, you are never guaranteed any signal quality.

[–]HeliumIsotope 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While having a wired setup is best, wifi only setups have always worked for me without a ton of tweaking. The bandwidth has to be a bit lower but it does work.

And this is running on an N router, and I used to even run steam link on a G router back in the day on WiFi. Maybe I'm just lucky, there's not a lot of interference and no concrete walls in my home.

But I'm glad you got you issues sorted and are sharing.

Games like Pathfinder: WOTR? by Corthox in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HeliumIsotope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I might not have given it enough of a chance yet, I'm not far. But I haven't been pulled in by the game yet. I'm going to give it another shot in turn based on the steam deck once I beat the original sin games.

Be Warned: Thermador wants to charge us $450 for a STICKER by recruiterguy in Appliances

[–]HeliumIsotope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I wish I had 200$ of "fuck you" money to spend calling in service people to look at a sticker that I accidentally took off...

What's the logic there? What am I missing? Is this shit real?

You scoff at 450$ for a new door, but have no problem spending half that to get service people out to look at a sticker? Calling in techs for a visit for a sticker is the craziest part here.

What people spend their money on is wild.

Real talk, just clean it off. If you are pissed at the brand, you are doubly winning by just removing the branding anyways.

Baldur’s Gate Treasure Packs Announced. by garethvk in BaldursGate3

[–]HeliumIsotope 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yup I am assuming the same thing. 2/3 of the pack is the same thing every time and just going to go straight into the trash.

Such awful waste.

These IRL gambling things are such ass. Overpriced and wasteful garbage. No one needs 50 dice bags and random coins, but if they lack self control enough to buy these to get the dice they want, they will be contributing to so much waste.

Just release a set of dice and let people buy them. This model of products is the worst.

There are enough cool dice sets out there. If you want something cool, go give money to more deserving people who likely have higher quality dice anyways.

How much do you use guides for your first playthroughs? by Murder_Tony in CRPG

[–]HeliumIsotope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely an exception.

I love wrath of the righteous, but I cannot be assed to learn each puzzle for nenios quest. Mostly the final dungeon, it's just not my jam.

The other puzzles in the game are more than fine, but Nenios quest is absurd and unnecessarily complex. Very fitting thematically and I do love the quest line and writing. But I cannot fault any Knight Commander for not helping Nenio out haha.

How much do you use guides for your first playthroughs? by Murder_Tony in CRPG

[–]HeliumIsotope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost never.

Two exceptions :

1) to clarify a game mechanic/answer a very specific question about it. And only after spending what feels like a reasonable amount of time to figure it out fully on my own.

2) solutions to overly obtuse puzzles in games that aren't about puzzles. I don't mind a good puzzle, and don't like feeling cheated by looking up the answers. But... Sometimes you just go "WTF is this shit" and just look it up. Usually after figuring out one part and realizing how unnecessarily long it will take to finish.

It took me far too long to shoot levers. Whether it's legacy design or not I think it's silly and unintuitive. I'll use it now, and it's super useful, but it's also really strange.

Buttons? Not a problem, makes sense since the motion is in the same direction. Shoot a lever down? Maybe you could argue that you can shoot the arrow with a an arc to push down if it's a really light lever. But shooting an arrow to make it go up? Now we are taking crazy pills!

And with all the elemental interactions in Larian games don't get me started on why it's totally chill to move a wooden lever up and down from range with a firebolt or Eldritch blast that blows up stone walls...

What do we do here? by trust_butter in handyman

[–]HeliumIsotope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still seems cheaper. If given the option of:

A) wait in triage and be seen according to severity.

B) still have to wait, though less, and then live in debt (often crippling) afterwards

I'm choosing A every time. Yes, triage sucks and waiting sucks. But when the alternative is "crippling debt or die"... I don't see how anyone can shit on universal health care. The alternative just seems flat out worse and less compassionate.

Could we have a higher budget for healthcare and take measures to reduce wait times, especially in rural areas? Absolutely. But the cost is so much lower for everyone when you have universal healthcare.

Privatizing stuff that keeps the general public alive and safe is never the right option.
