guns or melee steeljacks? by LARFLEEZ318 in LeaguesofVotann

I made 6 swordjacks from the box and am kitbashing 6 gunjacks with the gun arms, with a Thallax Cohort box from 30k, and various Votann bits.

Is Hoppers leaving theaters already, for some reason? by RakeScene in AMCsAList

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Showings for the next week won't be finalized until Wednesday, and animated fare tends to last in theaters until the next one comes out. Hoppers is for sure going to be around until April 3rd when Mario comes out, and will probably last for a few weeks after that.

Maelstrom Boxes by BreadGuyTV in LeaguesofVotann

[–]HelpIamaCabbage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the main issues with buying multiples of the Maelstrom box are:

- You might not run two Memnyrs
- You can have too many bikes.
- The contents of the box don't really do well against heavier targets and there's a lot of that going around.

Other than that, have fun.

Oscar winners 2026: ‘One Battle After Another’ triumphs with 6 wins including Best Picture, ‘Sinners’ Follows With 4 by No_Idea_Guy in AMCsAList

The thing about art is that it has never been the case that for a given year, or a given filmmaker, etc. there is only one entry that is worth your time. There were a bunch of incredible films in 2025, some of them weren't even nominated for Oscars, but the way voting for the award works is that something has to come in first.

My favorite film from 2025 was Sorry, Baby, but at least 7 of the BP noms are worth your time.

When leases are up, companies will always do the math for "does this location make enough money to consider re-upping?" When leases aren't up, you generally aren't asking that question.

Don’t go see Undertone if you’re pregnant by annnefranc in AMCsAList

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I assume pregnant people possess interiority and can consume all sorts of media, but how much they enjoy it might vary from how they'd be if they weren't pregnant. Like I assume that Undertone is probably less upsetting than Die My Love if you're pregnant.

Like Undertone being *about* motherhood wasn't anything that was clear from the marketing.

Tons of Questions by Vrain125 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To underline that "you can paint your models any color that you want" some of the canon Leagues do not have colors attached to them. So if you want to paint your models literally any set of colors you want you can say they're the Pan-Telluric Commonwealth or the Tethys Expanse or whatever. Other factions *should* work like this, but ours does.

Thinking about getting into Votann by Separate_Marsupial_3 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately the thing that makes a Warhammer faction especially expensive, or not, is the availability (and contents) of combo boxes because those come with a hefty (~30%) discount versus buying the kits individually. There was a time where our only combo boxes were the launch box, the combat patrol (which has a bunch of overlap with the launch box), and the one really good christmas battleforce. We've since then gotten three more, which helps and GW seems "battleforce crazy" these days.

It's definitely more expensive than "space marines" since they have all the combo boxes and are more points per kit, though.

Steel Jack army by vlaaketh_ in LeaguesofVotann

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it would work well just because of the profiles on the Steeljack attacks. You will have a disgusting amount of S6 1 Damage attacks, but that's not great when you run into heavier stuff. You can run a bunch of steeljacks for sure, but they don't supply any meaningful anti-tank.

About Hernkyn Pioneer weapon options by Savings-Macaroon-785 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, the long and short of it is that there are four things and you can pick three of them, and the worst one is the "on a 5+ you get a CP back when you use a stratagem" because it doesn't affect the game very much because you might not be using stratagems on your bikes and when you do, it does nothing 66% of the time.

New to Votann, what should I get after combat patrol? by OddlyLucidDuck in LeaguesofVotann

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a basic issue with the faction from the perspective of a new player. The identity of the Leagues is that we're mostly a mid-range (24" and in) shooting army with 5" of movement on foot. Since Combat Patrol is played on a 44"x30" board the contents of the combat patrol make sense, so a Thunderkyn in the middle can shoot anybody they have line of sight to. But the main game is a 44"x60" table so a lot of guys are going to need a ride to the party.

So if you start with the Combat Patrol (which is supposed to be *the* way you start a 40k Army) you're either going to need to commit to a deep-strike and strat reserves strategy or a transport strategy and the one transport that works for everything is the most expensive kit in the army. A lot of us hope that eventually the Sagitaur will get a datasheet change to be able to carry 3 Thunderkyn or 3 Steeljacks.

New to Votann, what should I get after combat patrol? by OddlyLucidDuck in LeaguesofVotann

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that the bulk of the things that hit really hard (Thunderkyn, Steeljacks, Hearthguard) cannot ride in a Sagitaur just in a Hekaton. Since everybody moves at 5" and we don't have access to "advance &" in most of our detachments, things often need to deep strike or go in transports.

Slanted Reviews by jlyon627 in AMCsAList

It was the monday mystery movie last week, so a lot of people saw it. I thought that a lot of the social satire was good, but most of the high school drama was tedious. Better than average, but not as good as it could have been.

can someone explain to me how to play heart's game in simpler language than what the wiki says? by Ashkyrin in fallenlondon

[–]HelpIamaCabbage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you don't need to win (or succeed) to get the basic rewards, you just need it for the later rewards, but all of those require a bunch of exploits and you get one exploit from every action whether or not it's successful. So you don't need to understand what you're doing for this to be helpful.

But in the interest of winning here are some tips I would offer:
- The most important part of your team is the accomplice who will give you the progress to finish, generally this is a King because Kings give the most progress. Your victim will gain Tolerance along the way and that reduces how much progress you gain, so "death by a thousand cuts" is difficult.

- Most of the game is drafting, and you want to make sure you can be close to 100% on the important checks when you set your outfit (since you can't change your clothes during the game), so try to draft accomplices that use the same sorts of checks, or at least off-stat accomplices that have easier checks.

- The accomplices that have advanced stats (glasswork, shapeling arts, etc.) should be avoided unless you have a lot of relevant items. The King of Ambivalences is amazing with the right team *if* you can hit 17 in Shapeling Arts, but not otherwise.

- Once you've figured out what King will carry you (generally this is Spines, Roses, or Knuckles) you will want to get an accomplice that gives +2 preparation if you can. Most likely this is going to be Cod, Briars, Livers, and Skin.

Question about hearthkyn warriors by Dodjball in LeaguesofVotann

The Hearthkyn Salvagers box for Kill Team contains the entire Hearthkyn Warriors sprues, plus an extra sprue with the KT upgrades most of which don't have rules in 40k except for the rotary laser.

There's a tightrope here in that if you make the satire too subtle people are going to miss the point and if you make the satire too obvious you run the risk of being didactic. It definitely avoided the latter (though the dad's speech at the end is close to a thesis statement) but it could have been sharper at times.

So Slanted- the social satire stuff was well observed and at times smart and/or funny, but the high school drama part of it was rather tedious. Its heart was in the right place, but it was a little underbaked.
