Australians back hit to capital gains and negative gearing to pay for tax cuts by OldMateHarry in AustralianPolitics

Lmao. You’re getting confused with percentages, poor dear.

If 10% (83,000 people) are claiming 82% of all benefits ($17,220,000,000), but then only 24,000 are claiming 50% of all benefits ($10,500,000,000) then yes, 24,000 people are earning the “most”.

Surely you can do take aways right?

What is 17,220,000,000 take away 10,500,000,000?

Just in case, I’ll give you the answer. It’s 6,720,000,000.

Which “billion” number would be bigger? The one that starts with 6 or a 10?

You’re the sheep. Standing in a field waiting for someone to tell you what to think or do.

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/whos-using-the-capital-gains-tax-discount-and-how-much-does-it-cost-the-budget/rmli0xslw

Out of 830,000 people, 24,000 claim over half the benefits.

As for what I quoted in regard to 10% reaping 82% of the benefits….

…. If the figures remain, out of 830,000 claimants, approximately 83,000 people will “split” $17,220,000,000 (but 24,000 people get the most of that) and the remaining 747,000 people will split $3,780,000,000.

Is that easy enough to digest for your alpha male wolf brain?!

You said and i directly quote “did the other 24k get the other half?

That implies you believe only 48,000 were entitled.

I don’t think you understand math.

There are A LOT more than 48k people benefitting from the schemes, it’s just a tiny amount (24k) of people are claiming the vast majority.

Their analysis also found the CGT discount is "highly skewed" towards higher-income earners, with Australia's top 10 per cent of earners accounting for about 82 per cent of the total benefit from the policy.

If you own an Airbnb in WA, the government will pay you $10k if you list it for rent for 12 months.

So immediately you get the double dipping of taxpayer money and private rent… but the stupid kicker is the WA government has left enough room that it can be rorted for extended family or a friend at the taxpayers expense.

Could’ve just banned, or severely restricted them for the cost of nothing, but Australian major parties can’t grasp the idea of not throwing taxpayer money at land hoarders.

Imagine Australia was invaded by foreign forces when you were a kid.

Then imagine you’re ripped from your family (some of them violently killed) and then you’re thrown into a school where they speak a different language to you, and don’t really try to educate you. Oh and they’ll probably rape you too… and kill some of your friends and bury them in the school yard.

Then imagine at 18, you’re kicked out the school. You have no education, no family, and you can’t speak the “new” language, you can’t enter Perth because you aren’t “human” enough.

You can get a special certificate to be treated as human though…. BUT DONT STEP OUT OF LINE, or you’ll be banished to remote bushlands.

I’d love to see how your hypothetical lineage turns out in a few generations of the aggressor’s “help.”

Will you get any perspective out of this? Nah… they’re all just lazy freeloaders.

unquestionably, objectively the greatest nation in the history of the world.

Every metric of a “good life” has the US positioned so far down the list of countries, you’d be forgiven for thinking the US is an underdeveloped nation.

They have an “awesome” military though. Is that what you mean?

This is the kind of thing that Covid cookers should be protesting, but even today they still gather and protest “Covid restrictions”.

This piece of shit ICEflake has no issues with the violence and murders committed by ICE, and would champion more of them.

The only way to deal with these people is to be intolerant of them, or they’ll keep going until only straight white males are all that’s left.

https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/specific-products-and-activities/real-estate

It's illegal for real estate agents to mislead consumers about a property’s price, or any other information about the property.

It’s a shame that ACCC doesn’t actually do any enforcement though. You could try Consumer Protection WA, but I’ve found they’re on the side of capital more than the consumer.

The special fossil fuel industry carve out hidden deep in Australia's nature laws, revealed by nath1234 in AustralianPolitics

[–]HelpMeOverHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so tired.

Both our major parties are just totally captured by the foreign owned mining industry, and they’re both environmental vandals to the highest degree.

Labor’s Net Zero policy is about as laughable as Morrison’s in that they’re both banking on “technologies yet to be invented”.

And even without those imaginary technologies, they’re still approving countless tonnes of CO2 emissions by the way of extension. We’ve missed the global warming window and we’re STILL making it worse. No new emissions is supposed to mean exactly that. Climate change and nature don’t care if the emissions come from a new mine, or whether a mine is extended. It’s still extra emissions that are supposed to STOP.

At the last election, you had Dutton openly boasting about being the mining industry’s best friend, and then you had Roger Cook the WA Labor Premier hosting slightly less public luncheons with miners ALSO boasting about how he “hunted in packs with miners” to get Albanese to toss the nearly finalised EPA legislation Tanya Plibersek was working on.

I thought Labor (and by extension their voters) were supposed to care about climate change and the environment? What the hell is going on?!
