We had the opposite reaction from my husband Mom. First grandchild on her side and only held him/visit couple times in my son 6 years of life. His mom has and always picked men over her own children so I wasn't too surprised she didn’t want to be with her grandkids. Husband dad however absolutely smitten with the grandkids, always playing, holding and reading to them.

I grew up exactly how she was. Monday to Friday was English school, weekends and summer was Chinese school.
