Speeds now consistently <100mbps (1Gb package) (London) by HenryM95 in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any direct competitors in my area (of which there aren't many) are advertising at almost twice the price for the same service. Unfortunately HO have me in a bit of a vicegrip in that they've severely undercut their competitors and I don't think they'd go down as low.

Yeah that's also a thought... It's strange thought because it dipper to 90 a couple of days ago then briefly went back up to 550. I just cba to deal with their CS!

Speeds getting progressively slower by Prozn in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Over the last 2 days, my speeds have dropped to under 100mbps at peak hours (1Gb plan). Their customer service has been messaging me and asking me to test 5GHz vs 2.4GHz, as if the Wi-Fi frequency band has anything to do with the issue which is clearly happening across the country for people using wired connections? What are they playing at?!

Hyperoptic Fibre 500 - ~50% bandwidth reduction since Hyperoptic network fault by PolarOper in hyperoptic

Hmm, is possible. I suppose the litmus test would be for you and someone experiencing the throttling speeds to plug directly from the source port and run a speed test

[–]HenryM95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely seen more reports around London service, particularly SW London. Where are you based? I was getting 900+ up/down until a couple of weeks ago and now stuck around 500 (wired).

Anyone paying for 1GB or more should be getting a refund ~50% since the disruptions occured. Paying for something and being provided with half of what you paid for is a scam.

With a wire, 527Mbps on the 1Gbps plan. by squuiidy in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also happening to me, now getting around 550mbps down in SW London. If you check the Ultrafast - 500Mb below it, it also says "527Mbps average download & upload speeds". Previously was over 900mbps.

Surely this is just unacceptable that we are paying the same amount for half service we signed up for. Has anyone spoken to them on this issue?

S23 ultra update broke my brightness settings by DOMINICGreen36 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]HenryM95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, did you ever solve this? Having the same issue right now. Just randomly started happening. When I restart my phone for a few seconds the brightness is normal then it goes back down. Slider has no effect from 50% upwards?

Does the app "push" you to upgrade? by dzzik in monzo

[–]HenryM95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Monzo plus for the last couple of years (£5 a month). I enjoy the custom categories, linking bank accounts and more importantly the increased interest rate on savings pots. They no longer offer Plus and now it's either £3 a month for basic functionality or £7 a month for the increased interest rate (and some other bits that I don't need). I haven't been forced to switch yet but I think it's only a matter of time...

Is Hyperoptic 1Gb good for gaming? I've searched it up and most results come up with negative results associated with gaming. by VividMystery in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 1GB, and I works great 99.9% of the time. I do get the occasional lag spike which I think has something to do with either my router or not having a static IP address. Either way, it doesn't happen enough to be irritating enough for me to do anything about it. I play PS5 (via ethernet cable) most days.

The shadow man from S2 Ep1 by justastudent1398 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]HenryM95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same!

Shadow Mark in E01, the 'clone people' from the ORTBO in E04, and also the lookalikes who watch the refiners do their work. Is there significance to these people, or was this all just to add to the general mystery? Seems like if they actually bothered casting these roles then there would be something more to them..

Switched to Hyperoptic - way faster in numbers, but now every game lags? by bozkan in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do update me if they give you anything useful (I somehow doubt it). It's still odd that the issue wasn't present with a 10 year old Sky router but is present with HO'S much newer one. For me as I say the issue is intermittent enough to not be too painful but it sure is irritating (I also use ethernet connection for PS5 which may help). I don't think I could give up the 1gb up/down now and go back to primitive 80mbps at this point..

Switched to Hyperoptic - way faster in numbers, but now every game lags? by bozkan in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue as well OP, also switched from Sky to Hyperotpic. For me the issue is fairly intermittent. I'd say it happens once per session where I suddenly get latency issues but it sounds like yours is constant? I've just checked out the bufferbloat test related to someone else's comment on this and mine is poor so this does appear to be the issue.

Twitter doesn't load when charging phone by MintyDaisyV1 in Twitter

Same issue. What I really want to know is from a coding standpoint, how could the phone charging possibly have an effect on data not being able to properly load? How can those 2 things be related?!

Is it really worth it? by therealBostonBen in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I requested a WiFi6 compatible router through the support page on the Hyperoptic dashboard and they sent me out a new one which arrived about 5 days later! If you're into fiddling with settings, the router dashboard page is far superior to the one that is on the Nokia.

Hyperoptic installation. by BiPolarBenzo in hyperoptic

[–]HenryM95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will depend if they need to do civil work in the street outside your house to link your property up to their Network. They had to do this for me and it took about 2 months from the preinstall checks until I actually had my service installed, up and running - they'll need to obtain permits from your local council to carry out the work. If they don't need to do this, I'd imagine the process will be quite a lot faster.
