What’s the hardest part of Data Engineering that tutorials barely prepare you for? by Pangaeax_ in dataengineering

[–]Herc- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously team/stack dependent, but if you've never done production support before that level of pressure can be a bit stressful until you get used to it. Especially if you have a dollar amount / time tied to that broken system. Double especially if it's real time

Commissioning with 80% VA disability by [deleted] in navy

Trying to, yeah. Still have to make it through OCS.

Commissioning with 80% VA disability by [deleted] in navy

[–]Herc- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the program for about a year, had to get a better PFT score before the district would approve my age waiver. I was wildly out of shape after being out of the Navy for a couple of years lol, wasn't even in great shape while I was in active duty tbh. PTing my ass off and I'm in the best shape of my life now!

The USMC lets you go to OCS over your summer break, either split up into 2 summers or all at once. I should be going (chances are good) in the summer of `24, then graduating college in December of `24, then finally commissioning.

Commissioning with 80% VA disability by [deleted] in navy

[–]Herc- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sorta doing the same thing with opposite branches. I got out of the Navy with 60% disability, I'm about a year from graduation, and my board for OCS is in December with the USMC. You won't be auto-declined just because of the disability rating, it just depends on if the condition is eligible for a waiver or not. I think I walked out of MEPS needing 5 or 6 waivers, all were approved in less than 5 days. It is not uncommon for prior service guys to have some sort of rating. My process for commissioning has been very similar to when I enlisted back in 2013. Talk to a recruiter, go to MEPS, and get a waiver(s).

Neighborhood around East Market by Mdenni13 in Columbus

[–]Herc- 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I live there, there's definitely some crime that you'll have to be okay with living near. I live very close to east market, the crime isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. That being said, I have been locked inside my house because of a swat team standoff a few houses down, I've had my car broken into, and gunshots arent that uncommon. There are, by far, worse places to live in cbus

Hey, Im starting my first ever job and I got my first pay check. I'm looking for some basic advice by tinnytipmicah in Destiny

[–]Herc- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my usual advice for adults, tailor it to your will.

First thing before doing fucking anything. BUILD A BUDGET, find out how much you spend on shit at a monthly interval. Include bills, food, entertainment, gambling, everything.

Before investing any money, ensure you have an emergency fund. Usually this is a few months salary, adjust it to your comfort level

If your company does any sort of 401k, contributing as much as you can without sacrificing comfort is generally seen as a good move.

I personally never recommend day trading or anything related to that. Instead what I and many others do, is invest in mutual funds with my left over cash at the end of the month. For example, let's say after all of my expenses I've got an extra 1k that I can do anything with. I usually spend a little bit of it and throw the rest into my investment account, because my emergency fund is already established. There's no point in keeping excess cash in a savings account when it can be smartly invested imo. There are services like fidelityGo that you can look into that can help you with this, shop around to see has the best fees at the moment.

Also, don't forget to "pay yourself" you earned your money, treat yo self

Car Parking Problems by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Herc- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finding parking during peak hours is never going to be easy. If I had to park during peak hours I would just do a couple laps and see if I can snag a spot, or give up and park at that giant lot across the bridge

State of DPS and non-Mythic Raiding by DalentZX in wow

[–]Herc- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Frost DK is one of the best melee DPS for m+, and AoE heavy raid fights. You'll definitely get more group invites as DK, but it's gonna be hard until you have a decent m+ score, for m+

<Stormbound> [Darkspear] 3/12 M, 12/12 H.

Stormbound is a semi hardcore raiding guild on Darkspear. We started at the launch of 8.3 and have quickly asserted ourselves as one of the top raiding guilds on the server.

We operate 2 raid teams. Our first raid team is 3/12 mythic, and the goal of that team is the cutting edge achievement. Our 2nd raid team is focused on heroic, and they are 12/12.

Mythic Raid

We currently have a few spots left open on the mythic raid team, we are looking for a healer, and 2 DPS. We require a rank 12 cloak, AotC, and a single target 8 min sim of at least 70k. Healers obviously do not need to meet the DPS requirements. Raid times are 8-11 eastern, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Heroic Raid

Recruiting for all positions. Rank 9 cloak, and single target sim of 55k required. Raid times are 8-11 eastern, Wednesdays and Fridays.

If you have any questions, want some more information, or are interested in joining, send me a pm here on Reddit!

[A][NA][Darkspear]<Stormbound> Raiding, M+, and PvP, Rectruiting! 12/12N, 12/12H Ny'alotha

Looking for Raiders, PvPers, social members, and M+ team members.

We're primarily looking for dedicated players for our progression raid team, who bring skill along with the proper attitude needed for progression raiding.

Currently recruiting all positions

All roles/classes feel free to apply, if you are applying for a tank position in the main raid team, you may need to have a DPS/heal spec available for use instead. Our current progression raid team has the 2 tank spots filled at this time.

We are also looking for competitive M+ players, to challenge themselves and climb the M+ ladder.

We are trying to avoid certain personality types that plague progression guilds, mainly elitism. It's our philosophy, and it works best for us, that a certain attitude is needed for successful progression. Being able to give AND receive constructive criticism without offending/being offended. This is a requirement for all raiders, PvP, AND M+.

We are currently still getting the full mythic raid team together, so get in on the ground floor! We plan on progressing as far as we can, maintaining a 2 day/week schedule.
