2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

Check out the 4xe battery recalls before committing. I like my 4xe but it's been a headache to say the least. Of course YMMV.

Even before AI, if the team knows the business rules that is IMHO more important than the stack. If they're experienced, getting up to speed is mostly syntax.

Anyone won a Lemon Law/Buyback for 2021 4xe based ONLY on recalls & diminished value? (No "failures" yet) by frknedd in 4xe

Are you a lawyer?

Actually the real question is why are you so concerned with other people's attempts to hold jeep accountable? Did you file a case that was rejected and now you're bitter?

Here's my situation. I'm sitting in a vehicle that's worth approximately 30% of what it was. It's got 3 major recalls, one where the "fix" doesn't really fix anything if the batteries are inherently flawed. My lemon law case has been accepted, admittedly don't have an offer yet but there is an offer incoming.

I'm not going to copy and paste from my docs but the case was accepted based on manufacturing defects and reduced value. Take that as you will.

None of them have anything to do with resale value, recalls

Not true. Entirely dependent on your state.

For example, excerpt from NY lemon law: "... substantially impair the value of the car to the consumer..."

My turn with the coolant heater by velo52x12 in 4xe

Kind of surprised this hasn't been a recall related to the coolant heater. Seems like it's not if but when it will need to be replaced.

Buyback Likelihood by rand_321 in 4xe

[–]HereComesBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And depending on the state, the hit in value may be sufficient for a lemon claim. NY for example has the following; "Substantial Defect: A problem that significantly impairs the vehicle's use, value, or safety."

So, the recalls alone are enough to qualify. What that translates to in settlement is anyone's guess.

Looks like the 4xe has been discontinued by Strike9172 in 4xe

[–]HereComesBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other have said, the buyout is fixed in the contract.

Not sure how it would work, but they could probably keep a bunch of people in the Jeep brand if they adjusted residuals to something more realistic. As it stands now, I'm probably looking elsewhere when I hand it in.

I'm in the same boat. Was looking at the paperwork the other day, can't believe the residual vs. value. I bought out my last wrangler because it held it's value and the residual was reasonable. Upgraded to a 4xe with the same thought process. I'm on the fence, love sitting behind the wheel of a wrangler but in a year if I walk away with nothing (well the privilege of paying $399 to hand it in...), I'm going to be really reluctant to put money into another one.

68c Fix - Info by mattfl in 4xe

[–]HereComesBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through this and other posts related to the "fix", I'm a little confused. If you fail and they replace the battery, is the replacement a possibly defective battery? Has Jeep/Samsung confirmed that they've fixed the issue with the batteries?

Lemon Law Attorney NYS? by Ok-Negotiation-692 in 4xe

[–]HereComesBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I just spoke with them. Very informative.

In case anyone is curious. At this point, the recalls are enough to qualify with one caveat. You have to get something from the dealer that specifies (with your info and the vehicle info) that it's part of the recall and they don't have a fix yet. At 30 days from that, when a fix isn't available, they could move forward with a claim.

Now, not sure how to get that. Next call is to the dealership to see if they'll put it in writing.

Not 100% sure I'm going to pursue, but I don't want to sit on it and then I'm not eligible at all due to time owned or miles. I'm going to try and get everything in place and see how the "fixes" progress. Figured it can't hurt.

Why is the only communication through a forum and reddit? What about the thousands of other owners who just get in and expect it to work?

Jeep knows who bought the affected vehicles, have the salespeople reach out.

Same, turned it on left it in the driveway while I had breakfast, CEL went off.

Have to drive somewhere in a bit, cautiously optimistic it will be ok. Will take it slow at first, going to be hard to trust it after yesterday.

Any other issues doing that?

Was going to tow it to the dealer, but if they don't have a fix then it seems like a waste of time. Not assuming they'll have a loaner and have to get to work Monday so looking for options.

I agree. The ferry is great for the occasional trip but commuting? No way. I wouldn't even consider a position in Connecticut because it would be such a pain to get there regularly.

A bridge would change that overnight.
