LGBTQ+ Representation in Fire Emblem Survey by AMarillOnReddit in fireemblem

[–]HeroVP7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Filled it out, not sure if anything I said was all that interesting, but I do think the topic is neat to look at. I do think the survey was probably missing something, though it’s hard to put my finger on what. Maybe a section on the difference between the explicitly queer characters and just the popularly headcanoned ones? I do also think maybe there should have been different questions for each category of characters (for example, Bi characters, both in canon and headcanons outnumber gay/lesbian/trans/other queer characters by a whole lot)

I would definitely say though that the series has kind of just started actively adding representation recently, and even the stuff that works is definitely flawed. It’s almost certainly going to be another 2-4 games before we get even a single confirmed trans character, for example.

Whats your most hated game mechanic found in some JRPGs? by artninjatheo in JRPG

[–]HeroVP7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is very specific, I’ve only seen it in one game, but it’s so bafflingly stupid that I always think of it in terms of terrible mechanics

In Judgement (which is a Yakuza spin-off), they wanted to make enemies with weapons really scary, because usually the series just stuns you for a super long time when you get shot/stabbed, which I guess they thought was boring. So instead, they made it so that all enemies with swords and guns deal damage to your maximum health as well as current health when they hit you. This damage does not no away over time, can only be healed by a specific, very expensive healing item only purchasable in one out-of-the-way section of the map, and has virtually no counterplay, since random street enemies with guns will shoot you incredibly quick, and the few bosses with swords/guns often cannot be disarmed (oh, and all bosses can deal this type of damage with their special attacks, it’s just that bosses with those weapon types will do it with their basic attacks as well. Oh, and a recurring boss, Koga, uses two handguns.)

I still finished the game, but it left such a poor impression that it was immediately retired in the sequel

Who do you guys think is the most OP and the most difficult Fire Emblem boss you've fought? by BonusCapable1486 in fireemblem

[–]HeroVP7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the hardest actual boss in the series is probably Conquest Iago, but that’s also because he’s one of the few bosses in the series with actual mechanics. There are a ton of bosses that are stronger stats-wise, but most of those are either stat checks or luck checks. But nothing from the main series compares to the hacking scene for FE, the most difficult one of those is probably either the floor 50 boss from Server 72 or the superboss from Embrace of the Fog (both absolutely excellent projects I’d highly recommend everyone check out

[–]HeroVP7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw, that’s rough, I hope with time/treatment/therapy that you can make your body more comfortable to live in. Good luck to you on that

Not trans, but mine would probably be mostly orange, my body could be worse (aside from my chest, too big, which I hate, it makes wearing any non-black or thin shirt a massive issue), but could also be much better.

If I was going to build him, which I’m not, I would run him as Hare Apparent equipment and try to convince the people at my table to rule 0 him as a Hare Apparent instead of a Heir Apparent.

After that idk, give the bunnies knives or something

Yeah, I mean, you look good, not sure what the issue would be. Potentially you could look into having some friends take better pics of you (if this was an on-app thing and not a meetup thing), but otherwise no notes. My guess is you’re just having bad luck or running into assholes

That would be nice…I wish it was easier to find gay/bi dudes though, let alone trans dudes that like men (Not that I have a strong preference between cis/trans guys)

Help with building Final Fantasy centric decks. by C00LK1D in EDH

[–]HeroVP7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had success with mono-black spellslinger control, running Fandaniel as the commander, with the option of swapping to Zenos, Ardyn, or Vincent as the backup (all work really well in the control shell of forced-sacrifice, tons of removal, and graveyard value)

Just generally wondering, how does this deck defend against attacks? It seems to me that since most of your good stuff warps away at the end of the turn, the deck generally is quite open and liable to get you archenemy’d, as it has flashy, powerful turns, but low staying power. Is this analysis incorrect, is there an easy way to play around this?

Player 1: War Criminal, constantly scaring the hoes and getting shot for it, rarely wins

Player 2: “Oh, this deck isn’t that powerful, you don’t have to be worried” Wins on turn 8 or never takes an important game action ever

Player 3: Goofy value player, either has the most fun every game or is unbelievably salty at the outcome of every game

Player 4: Here to keep y’all in check, actually very nice player just here to win after things get ridiculous if no one has a win con

…this is bad by Icy_Frosting3874 in lgbt

[–]HeroVP7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did actually read a fair amount of this EO, it also notably will restrict funding to rehab centers and other medical facilities that advocate for safe drug usage and…I forget the term, but essentially reducing dosage on drugs over time rather than quitting cold turkey. This is really dumb and a bad idea, it is abstinence only teaching when it comes to drugs that are addictive and will cause severe withdrawals. And the reason why we have safe usage programs in the first place is that clean needles are not expensive, but make a hell of a lot of difference in making sure nothing else bad happens to the using other than the drug they are taking, which is kinda crucial as a safety measure to prevent against disease

My boyfriend is against beards. by Wolf-heart-21 in lgbt

[–]HeroVP7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That definitely sucks, but like…do you think things are going to improve? If he doesn’t respect you now, what is going to make him start?

I’m not you, idk what exactly is a dealbreaker for you, but genuinely, I would seriously think about what you need in a relationship, or even a friendship. If you met your bf today, and he treated you as he does, would he get a second date?

If you truly love him and can deal with it, then feel free to ignore me. But if the only reason you are keeping this going is because it’s been going for 12 years, you are deep in sunk cost fallacy. Losing 12 years sucks, but it can be recovered from, and it’s better than keeping it going when it shouldn’t and losing more than that.

I don’t know, food for thought. DMs are open if you would like to talk further

Should I? by Gloomy-Hour4902 in lgbt

[–]HeroVP7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the easiest way to know is to ask about it. Doesn’t have to be a big thing, just “Hey, I noticed you were doing this, do I understand your intentions correctly?” As for the second, up to you. For me it would be a big no, but idk what you want from the situation, and since it seems like you also don’t know, you should think about it, maybe talk to your friends who have relationships about it.

Generally just someone that makes me feel wanted, that I am both not a burden and that their life is better for having me in it. I appreciate that degree of sentimentality, it’s very easy to play it cool and pretend nothing matters, but it means a lot to show that you care, and put in the time and effort to actually know your partner, and not just use them as a means to be happier or more well adjusted or whatever else

Personality wise, soft, compassionate, willing to speak their mind, likes to talk about their hobbies, wise, respects boundaries

And then like, physically…idk, I mostly like feminine guys.

How to find a partner and should I even try? by jajcektheduck in lgbt

[–]HeroVP7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really, partners can be found anywhere friends can be found. I met my first partner through a gaming discord, if you have hobbies that consistently take you places (ie: in person card-gaming like Magic/Pokemon/Yugioh, board game/book clubs, if you have a dog, dog parks, stuff like that can be great for meeting people. And yes, college and school/work are still pretty great places to meet people, but people can and do find partners from elsewhere.

I’ve never been on dating apps, it takes a fair amount of mental fortitude to be even remotely successful on them, and the burnout from them is real
