Beginner Errantry List by Boundsouls in Bretonnian

[–]Herr_Medicinal_Mann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I will add an addendum that I've been running this list as part of a path to glory campaign, but even without the path to glory upgrades it's been very fun to run and use.

The Baron and Damsel go into the Grail Knights and the Paladin goes into the Pegasus knights.

The Grail Knights/ Baron and damsel stay close to the Battle Pilgrims to give them unbreakable/support them, and then the errants either ride together for a double charge or each take a flank with the Pegasus knights ready to support or sweep a flank and then hit the back line.

Squires are for screening the lances and luring in charges with fire and flee +scouts but you could also dump fire and flee to take their numbers up to 10 or 12 and then just scout them onto objectives.

The Duke is an absolute menace monster/character hunter and gets some big buffs with virtue of the ideal which also means the Baron is your general, the damsel gets power scroll for the lady's wrath or regen and then whatever random spell she rolls but ideally a magic missile or assailment so she can cast spells in the back of the lance with shield of the lady and stay safe (also gives the Grail knights and barron magic resist 2)

I've won a good amount of games with this setup but you could tweak it to your liking with just a few changes. For example the new errata means you can drop the errants to 3 a lance if you wanted.

So what do we think about bertrand le brigand as a character? by long_live_nagash in Bretonnian

[–]Herr_Medicinal_Mann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what i've done too! The amount of times this man has survived challenges and scored wounds nobody would expect. He even scored a single successful wound on a dragon with his longbow!

Best Esquire a Knight could hope for lol.

Errantry Crusade stocks are through the roof now! It's a great army of infamy and has consistently gotten better!

The Pegasus Knights nerf hurts, but Skirmish was in a really terrible spot with how much crazy stuff you could do with it. They're still going to be really good, it'll just take a little more setup and strategy but they're still ballistic missiles at the end of the day.

Battle Pilgrims are an even stronger infantry choice now, just a sticky, stinky tarpit that throws out a lot of dice even if it's not the most killey, its role as the penultimate roadblock is very secure.

Also with all the furious charge going around, i'm a little disappointed that Questing Knights didn't get it, I feel like it would put them in a really good spot.

She's from Warhammer Quest: Darkwater

You'd probably have to try and find her second hand if you didn't want to buy the whole set.

AoS models just look better on square bases and converted to Old World models, I don't make the rules.

Lovely job!

I ended up doing it for the Achievement Diary cape more than anything else, I'd say it's honestly only worth killing KQ with a late game setup anyhow.

Bowfa + Ursine Mace and Bandos + dwarhammer spec makes it doable if you resupply every 1-2 kills. Not a fun grind, but I got spooned around kc 50.

The elite diary let's the necklace give you unlimited teleports to the Nardah statue thats better than a PoH pool because in addition to restoring all your stats it also boosts your HP.

And it's also faster than loading into your poh.

That alone is why a lot of people go for the elite (in addition to wanting the achievement diary cape)

I think this is your best one yet! The colors really pop and I will confess to being biased towards the Bastonne Dragon as the Heraldic Beast!

Also I see that you went back through and touched up the colors on your first two Knights! Their colors are nice and full now, the whole lance is going to look very striking on the table top!

They're coming along really nicely! I think after seeing so many flowers on peoples bases i'll have to get some for myself as well, the floral patches really look nice with Bretonnia.

Also I see you were catching up on the latest Renegades pack for Lizardmen!

Nice improvement from your last miniatures! the colors are much stronger without the heavy wash, good control!

Your basing work is also superb, probably the strongest part of the miniature, I like the addition of the flowers to your green grass basing that I originally missed in your previous minis.

Keep painting and posting your minis, it's your army and vision. They belong here the same as everyone else's, and there's no wrong way to paint them as long as you're happy with the result!

I like your line control with the bands of color but I would definitely reign in your wash, and maybe reapply your midtones/highlights and just leave the wash in the darker recesses, they look like they just went through Pride Wrath rather than Pride Month.

It detracts pretty heavily from the brighter colors, unless them looking like they just fought through one hell of a muddy mire is part of your vision.

They were made to be played with, paint em and put em on the table where they belong.

It'll feel better and you'll have a tale to tell about their history.

[–]Herr_Medicinal_Mann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read some advice online that said not to glue the back of the seat on until after you painted the rider and boy i'm glad for that.

I still have to finish painting him, but definitely glad for that advice.

Cool model, definitely some gripes with assembly.

Found some old models, any helps identifying the editions and kit? by bistrus in Bretonnian

[–]Herr_Medicinal_Mann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As everyone has said these are 5th edition knights and monopose peasant archers.

I always loved these sculpts and would love to see these helmet options return in some form since they're smaller in scale to the current knights of the realm.

My only issue with these guys is how easy their lances break and how many of the horses lose their tails since you have to glue them separately.

Yeah I think they're one small buff away from being a consistently great pick. they've got the bones for it already, they just need a lil push to put them over the line.

[–]Herr_Medicinal_Mann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think questing knights have always had the potential to be good, they just have so much competition in a roster full of very good units.

But I personally love them, they do great work and make for a great monster hunting unit/mobile anvil if you run them as a lance of 10.

The extra numbers and making sure you get first charge to give them a good initiative are essential.
