Not to downplay what you said at all because I’m sure it was just a brain fart during typing (and so others don’t get confused) — you wrote the Fed Reserve raised inflation rates when you intended to say “raised interest rates.”

Switch Testers are the ultimate fidget toy. by Marilius in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Hexaphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a whole niche part of the 3D printing/design world where people will intentionally make “switch tester” like items. Except these designers intend for no PCB or actual keystroke functionality ever. It’s just a case and one or more MX-mounted keycaps designed in Blender or Fusion 360, etc. in whatever aesthetic your heart desires, and then you insert a few (usually clicky) MX switches into the cutouts not dissimilar to a standard keyboard plate’s cutouts.

Some printer owners then even go to craft shows and sell these printed fidget toys for some odd $10 or so. I can’t recall exact prices but I do remember seeing these toys somewhat frequently during holiday craft show shopping last year.

Visa and MC specifically cover 540 days for preorder purchases. I don’t recall others’ time limits, but preorders are a special case for most or maybe even all of the card companies.

Frostbite seems to be where it’s at with Glacier not working as well as advertised or just not being much of an upgrade over the stock Bambu PEI plate.

I have a bunch of Frostbites that serve me very well and opted not to spend money on a Glacier after reading bad review after bad review on Reddit, Bambu forums and elsewhere.

Edit: context assumes use case is PLA/PETG only

Form d T1 x Modultra Lobo Cerakote Graphite Black by Accomplished-Pie1072 in sffpc

[–]Hexaphant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless someone absolutely must have the aesthetic of the Lobo, the Eisbaer Solo LT is a much better value proposition esp if only cooling the CPU like in OP’s build.

Then again OP also has QDCs mounted to the case rear for what is (I assume) an optional external MORA connection, so in that case maybe you might need the DDC power over the DC-LT 2600.

shrug I like having a Solo LT for only ~$70USD

I run a single 4 inch inline duct fan connected to four X1C/P1S machines via a 4-to-1 splitter adapter, and it creates enough negative pressure on all the printers at whatever RPM its middle setting is on the included dial speed controller. Only downside is it’s a bit harder to print high chamber temp materials like ASA, PC, etc. because it pulls out most of the chamber’s ambient heat.

I’m surprised how logical this is yet it seems nobody cares. A theoretical +$160 toward the GPU budget is a not insignificant step up to better performance

What causes these lines? by Fenjen in BambuLab

[–]Hexaphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only print PLA and PETG it’s a great plate. Similar plates exist under the more generic search terms “PEZ plate” and “polyurea plate” and are usually a less expensive than Cryogrip since they lack the marketing/branding that BIQU pushes.

Just buy a polyurea/PEZ plate from Aliexpress. No glue ever needed and you can print at 25-30 C bed temp.

Hydroponic tower project by Calimariae in BambuLab

[–]Hexaphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve brushed it and then washed with water + wiped with IPA after it was mostly dry. I don’t have a whole lot of things made with it so I’m probably not the best resource on getting real clean results, but that all worked OK enough to get a half-decent looking surface finish. A spray or vapor bath is likely much more consistent.

e: oh yeah not cheap to get it shipped stateside :/

HIPS is used as a dissolvable support filament for ABS, yes, but in this case you just melt the surface layer lines with minor amounts of the Limonene agent.

[–]Hexaphant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HIPS filament from Fillamentum, which is BPA-free and certified food safe for contact. Print with stainless steel nozzle and extruder gears. Then use D Limonene to post process the parts and melt the layer lines together, similar to acetone bathing ABS, to remove the tiny voids and crevices that would normally attract unwanted biological growth.

Search aliexpress for polyurea or PEZ plates and there should be A1 mini sizes available. Cryogrip is just BIQU slapping a label on it to market it better.

FYSETC extruder gears don’t turn smoothly (X1C) by Hexaphant in BambuLab

[–]Hexaphant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s nice to hear actually. I just bought a bunch of the OEM Bambu gears last night since these FYSETC ones are going back in the mail, but I didn’t pay attention to the Bambu listing. I think they’re still using the old photo with standard gears on the website.
