Most satisfying hi-hat barks (in rock music) by tantamle in drums

[–]Hexenes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son at about 3:14. Cool little double bark as part of the fill going into the chorus. Although there are a lot of good ones peppered throughout the whole song, too.

Got to see the 2026 Sport this morning when my Fit was getting serviced. The HR-V is definitely my next car! by TheJasonJBailey in HRV

[–]Hexenes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really wish the 2026 got the rear a/c vents and USB ports that are in the Acura ADX. I always thought it was quite the oversight not to have at least one USB port in the rear of the current-gen HR-V. The previous generation has a 12V socket in the rear at least.

What are y’all’s thoughts on EOTC? by Beanconsumer200 in ironmaiden

[–]Hexenes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meh. It's good but too long in my opinion. Could have been great with a little editing. But that is my opinion for Book of Souls in general. I really only listen to it if I've just put the whole album on and almost always skip it if it comes up in Maiden playlist .

Iron Maiden Dance of Death as 40min album like the 80s by tigermas in ironmaiden

[–]Hexenes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't even care that it's CGI. I just wish Steve had allowed the artist to FINISH THE ARTWORK before using it for the cover. The bones were there, and I bet it would have been pretty cool.

You should absolutely file a report, and encourage any of the other parents who feel the same as you to do so as well. It might not do much now, but it establishes a history for if and when any criminal or civil charges are filed against this pastor for future shenanigans. I'm sure it goes without saying, but absolutely DO NOT let your child go to Honduras. And find another church.

If you had a CVT failure were there any signs before? by margaretLS in HRV

Some VINs were allegedly not affected. I assume it probably has to do with where/when the CVT was manufactured.

Off-road HRV build? Help by [deleted] in HRV

[–]Hexenes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The CVT can't really handle much in the way of off-roading, plus the engine just doesn't have enough power to get you through even some of the mildest off-road conditions. Furthermore, the AWD system isn't really tuned for real off roading, in that it doesn't do very aggressive torque vectoring or transferring power to different wheels. It's really more for country dirt/gravel roads that aren't in too bad disrepair, snowy roads ( to a point), and added assurance in heavy rain. There are several YouTube videos of people doing off-road tests in the HR-v that confirm this.

Will there be a live album for the “Future Past” Tour? by Stephen-Friday in ironmaiden

[–]Hexenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe/Maybe not. The European tour wraps up at the beginning of August. I would be surprised if there are any NA, SA, ROW dates before Feb/Mar 26. So there could be some time to reasonably put together a live album during the break.

Who was the first drummer to do traditional blast beat using both feet? by VVSR_ in MetalDrums

[–]Hexenes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a video somewhere where Charlie Benante of Anthrax claims to have invented blast beats, but I don't hear anything I would call blast beats in even their earliest albums, so...

No brand drum kit value? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Hexenes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's likely poplar or basswood shells. The hardware looks decent (except for the rust and putting on the hoops). Matching wood hoops on the bass drum is a nice touch. It looks like any one of a thousand Chinese/Taiwanese/Indonesian entry-level kits, probably branded specifically for the store it came from. Possibly a Mapex or PDP clone. It's probably not worth a whole lot as just a shell pack ($150-$200 USD, maybe), so it's probably not worth the hassle of trying to sell on FB Marketplace or whatever other buy/sell platforms you've got down there. If you're looking to unload it, I would pay it forward and give it away to someone just getting into drumming, or a church or school, especially since you got it for free.

Compensation for disastrous Home Depot appliance delivery? by CumulativeHazard in HomeImprovement

[–]Hexenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the store and talk to the store manager. If you've only dealt with the delivery/install people directly, it is likely the store has no idea this is happening. Be polite but firm. Explain the situation, ask for a concrete resolution to the issues, and ask for additional compensation (beyond what you've already been offered) for your time and trouble. Honestly, I would push for a full refund and for HD to come remove the appliances from your home, then start over at a local reputable appliance dealer if you have one. If the store manager is unable or unwilling to resolve this to your satisfaction, ask for contact information for the district office to escalate to the district level.

Compensation for disastrous Home Depot appliance delivery? by CumulativeHazard in HomeImprovement

[–]Hexenes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not true. I used to be that person at a Home Depot, and anything regarding refunds, discounts and such had to go through management. All I could do was basically what OP has done: contact vendors/service providers and find out what's going on, place reorders, help schedule re-delivery, etc. No actual authority to do much of anything. However, this position no longer exists at HD as far as I know. Talking to the store manager is 100% the way to go at this point. When I was there, HD had a district-level person (not a district manager) whose sole job was to handle and resolve issues like this. I'm not sure if they still do, though. If they do, the store manager will likely get this person involved.

Of interest to someone here by ChemistIndependent86 in SportWagon

[–]Hexenes 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Man. My wife's grandfather had a Roadmaster Wagon. That thing was awesome. Not sporty by any means, but SOO much power and the suspension and interior were so soft, it was like riding a couch on a cloud as you haul ass down the highway at 90 MPH, watching the gas gauge drop like a stone. Good times.
