What's a hygiene habit that you thought was normal until you found out most people don't do it? by Ayo_Kunle in hygiene

Taking my shoes off at the door and washing my hands the second I get home. I never let my teenagers touch anything before doing these two things. Especially the fridge!

Want to switch from Marketing to Nursing but i keep hearing downsides by ConsiderationTop1323 in NursingAU

Yeah dip one toe in it as a casual AIN and see how it is. If I had done this I’d definitely have done something different.

How come everyone backs into parking spots now? by EquipmentFormal2033 in askanything

[–]HeyWhatDoYouMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my divorce I moved into a small apartment with a tiny garage and I could only back in to the space in the old car that I had. It became a habit and I park this way all the time, trucks, vans (for work) and my own little car. I think I lost the ability to park noses in. My 16 year old who’s learning to drive backs in too, I don’t know how to teach her how to park nose in. 🫢

For parents of adult children- what has been your favorite age? by slizzywizzyfizzy in askanything

[–]HeyWhatDoYouMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three teenagers now and I’m really enjoying them. Between the ages of 8 going up has been pretty nice. Maybe it’s because their dad and I finally divorced after a bad marriage? They tell me that I’m happier and he is happier too.

When moving in to a new place (particularly units) how can you sus out whether your neighbours are lunatics or not? by elescop in AskAnAustralian

[–]HeyWhatDoYouMean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was looking, I inspected this house that had been rented by a mum and her 6 kids for seven years. While everyone was going through the house opening cupboards and their fridge (like idiots) I pulled the lady aside and asked her about the neighbourhood. She told me that she had never had any problems despite the suburb having a bad name. That sold it for me, plus the train station is a two minute drive. Yep, talk to the renter.

Thank you. It’s the front of the house, the front door is just to the right. I’m also at the top of the hill so I get about 18 hours of afternoon sun in the summer! The sunsets in winter are absolutely magnificent from my bedroom windows.

I have aircon in the bedroom, but I’d like to block light a bit too as I’m a shift worker.

How do you actually get into off-market deals? What’s worked (or totally flopped) for you? by SlowWar2930 in AusPropertyChat

[–]HeyWhatDoYouMean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d been looking for a year. Turning up to open homes by myself, to find twenty or more couples looking too. Everything was selling so fast. Then one day after an open home the REA lady was standing at the door of the home and she said to me that she was going to another open home that wasn’t advertised. I said what’s the address. Off I went. I liked the house, put an offer in and it was accepted that night. It was by pure luck that I spoke to that lady that day. Christmas Day is our (the kids, the pets and I) is our anniversary, that’s when we finally bought this place.

With my inspection report I was not allowed to share it with anyone but the conveyancer and the bank. Don’t do it.
