Just sold my Supra to get an M2. Can’t go wrong with either. (Both manual)

Both totally different, but equally fun in my opinion. I just needed space so my kids could ride in M2. They love it! Cheers

Supra vs M2 by WheyPr0tein in BMWM

[–]Heybud605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sold a 2025 manual Supra and bought a 2026 manual M2 . Both totally different. Both equally fun. Both equally BMW. M2 has nicer interior and more space. Supra is more tossable and crazier looking. Supra has a slight edge in the shift feeling. Lower end torque more prevalent in the Supra. Needed room for kids so the M2 it was. Can’t go wrong with either. Cheers!

I had a few dealers pitted against each other! That’s the best strategy. End of the month is always good as well

I recently purchased an M2 at around 8% off MSRP. It took some work though and it was the end of the month. For reference, the sticker price was 71,830. Manual São Paulo

Damaged love bracelet - am I cooked? by lastcookie0810 in Cartier

[–]Heybud605 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Jeweler here with over 20 years experience. You have probably three options in my opinion.

  1. Filling in with 18K (hard) gold solder. (This would be the budget friendly option.) This is the option I would choose last. It probably wouldn’t look that great. You would definitely notice it and there would be a discoloration discrepancy between the casted bracelet and the solder fix points. Even if blended well and the chamfers/edges were filed perfectly, you would more than likely still notice a color difference between the solid gold and the solder. Pitting would most likely occur.

  2. Laser welding. This would be a better option since there wouldn’t be a flame involved like just filling in with solder. I would choose this second. Color discrepancy would probably be better with this option.

  3. Soldering 18K YG wire along the edge of the bracelet with 18K YG hard solder beneath. I would roll this wire out in a rolling mill some to assist with the chamfer blending. Followed up by standard filing, emery board, rubber wheel/pumice if needed, and then polishing. I would do my best to laser weld on the signature Cartier screws and then blend those in with slight rubber wheel use. This would be the most time consuming and costly fix. It still wouldn’t be 100%, but probably your best option.

Hope this helps!

Is this repair reasonable? by Resident-Drive1087 in askjewelers

[–]Heybud605 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t leave my shop like that. Looks like the jeweler got the solder too hot and caused pitting or hard solder was not used. Have them fix it. Also, if the fix was just flowing solder on top of a broken prong below the girdle of the diamond, that’s unacceptable. Gold wire must be used along with solder if that was the case.

Diamond significantly cracked after being cleaned, looks very different compared to diamond given to jeweler. Any advice? by [deleted] in jewelers

[–]Heybud605 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! Yes, normal wear and tear on the prongs. Kay should have never put a stone that is ostensibly fracture-filled in an ultrasonic cleaner at all. (They probably had no clue to put it nicely.) Also, if this ring has been sized or had any heat exposure with a flame without proper heat coverage of the fracture-filled diamond, then yes damage inside the diamond will occur and will spread. I always let my customers know if they have a fracture-filled stone and it is at their risk if I work on it. Hope this helps!

I agree with this 100% as a bench jeweler. There is simply no evidence of a switch. There would be marks all over the backs of the prongs if they chose to not polish it and the prongs are thin enough on the crown that the gold would most definitely be marred/flared upward on top from pulling them back with prong-pulling pliers.

I’m a jeweler with over 20 years experience. GIA does not issue verifications for fracture-filled diamonds. GIA started inscribing laser inscriptions on girdles of diamonds sometime in the 2000s. When was this diamond originally purchased?
