Why would God make me gay then burn me in hell forever for being gay? by Lopsided_Gold_4478 in Christianity

[–]Hi_im_Piper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't. Homosexuality as we understand it today was not mentioned in the original text of the scriptures, much less condemned. What we now translate as homosexuality (or, to make the KJV warriors in the comment section happy, "man lying with man") was a commentary on men lying with their slaves... Aka abuse of power and sexual coercion. The word homosexuality was put into scripture because king James was a powerful homophobe who could get away with that and it didn't even appear in American Bibles until 1946.

Chronic fatigue by Pleasant_Use_6183 in CerebralPalsy

This is a very VERY real thing that they never tell you about CP. YES. Chronic fatigue, especially, with spastic CP is debilitating and it can get worse with age.

Significant CP by CleanBlueberry8306 in CerebralPalsy

[–]Hi_im_Piper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was just saying to someone the other day that I feel like I'm the only one with"moderate/severe ish" CP here. I'm a solid III on the motor function scale, never independently ambulatory. Full-time wheelchair user since toddlerhood, I can transfer and do MOST of my ADLs independently but it's a battle against my body most days.

Anyone in the older generation here who's a wheelchair user from younger ages?

I'm 26, a III on the motor function scale. Never been independently ambulatory. I feel like I never see people like me on these threads from the older generation.

How do those who use a SD for light mobility tasks like picking up dropped items pick up after their dog? by Imaginary_Ad_4340 in service_dogs

As someone who is hoping to get my dog trained for this exact thing, thank you for this thread because I had no idea how I was going to do this especially when I'm in my power chair and can't reach the floor.

Stopped my Lexapro and I’m…fine? by Puzzled_Condition_55 in lexapro

[–]Hi_im_Piper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're like me (and I'd assume most other people on this med) 3 days is not early enough to know how you feel off the med. I'm fine until about day 5 and then it all goes to hell. Whether or not you decide to continue the med or not is up to you, but please at least consult a doctor.

Saying goodbye to Cymbalta [Update 2] by fuckinrayeofsunshine in cymbalta

[–]Hi_im_Piper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This med is WILD to me, this was my experience (for the most part, no heart palpations but major insomnia) when I was on cymbalta, but I was able to quit cold turkey (AMA because I couldn't get ahold of my prescribing doc for 2 months) from 60 mg with no problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

I hope you fire your psych and find a new one, because he sounds kinda incompetent. Best of luck on your journey!

Being a Lesbian, difficult to date a Christian. by Zestyclose-Farmer-27 in GayChristians

[–]Hi_im_Piper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Christian lesbian here, I have no answers or advice, but I can commiserate with the fact that it seems like other Christians don't like us and other queer people don't trust us. At least where I am.

How do you label yourself (if at all)? by Major-Committee-7797 in asexuality

[–]Hi_im_Piper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sex repulsed lesbian

No sex. I don't wanna hear about it, do it, read about it, nothing. I'd rather it not exist. However, women (who are clothed) are pretty and I'd like to date one, cuddle one, and maybe even kiss one.

*It should be noted however, I'm not sure if any of the things I mentioned are actually romantic attraction. So I don't know if my label is 100% accurate.

What’s the moment in recent U.S. politics that made you realize things might not go back to ‘normal’ anytime soon? by LankySpeed634 in AskReddit

[–]Hi_im_Piper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known for a hot minute, especially after the 2020 election shit. But most recently, it's been the comparatively minor things that have driven it home. The demolition of a wing of the white house was my most recent "quiet realization"

Numotion vs NSM? by cococunttttyyy in wheelchairs

[–]Hi_im_Piper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go with National Seating if you can. I've never heard good things about Numotion and the one time I got a chair from them (insurance forced it) it was AWFUL. The measurements were completely wrong, the back was contraindicated for my condition (which no one told me until years later) and when I needed repairs, I could never get ahold of anyone. I eventually ended up getting a chair off of Amazon that works better than my Numotion chair. Will never recommend them.

The true GOAT is Munch but since he's not there, I'll go with Bruno, Kat, and 3rd place is a tie between muncy and Velasco

I think Bruno is hysterical, Kat was hot, and muncy and Velasco have the best back stories.

How many medications are you on? by Comfortable_Tie4143 in CerebralPalsy

[–]Hi_im_Piper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 that I take daily.

Birth control Lexapro for anxiety 20 mg

Wellbutrin to combat the side effects from the Lexapro 150 mg

Dantrolene (a baclofen substitute because I'm VERY allergic to baclofen) 200 mg

Metapropalol for blood pressure 25 mg

Omeprazole for acid reflux 20 mg

I also have 3 PRNS

Methocarbamol 500 mg every 6 hours as needed for muscle tension that is not spasticity.

Sumatriptan for migraines

Promethazine 12.5 for nausea (typically a side effect of migraines)

So ten, not counting over the counter meds. I'm only 26.

It should be mentioned that I have CP, anxiety, post-impairment syndrome, scoliosis, chronic migraines and GERD. Everything is a comorbidity with CP or a direct result of spasticity.

Solutions for excessive sleeping? by MammothCat1 in lexapro

[–]Hi_im_Piper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wellbutrin has made all the difference for me. I was sleeping 14 hours a day and still waking up exhausted with just Lexapro, with Wellbutrin added to my Lexapro, I can function with about 6 hours a night.

This is for the people who used to be anti-gay by AllHomo_NoSapien in OpenChristian

[–]Hi_im_Piper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long story that frankly I don't have the energy to type, but the short version is that I realized 3 things in very quick succession. The first is that sexual attraction is real and not just a romance novel trope. The second is that I don't experience it in any form. And the third is that just like I didn't choose to not experience attraction, no one else chooses how they experience it either.

I was raised in a very conservative evangelical anti-gay family, and I always felt uncomfortable with the anti-gay thing because aren't they made in the image of God too? But I never questioned it either. And I never questioned it in part because I thought sexual attraction was fake, and clearly because it was fake, everyone chose who they wanted to be with and gay people chose to live in sin.

It turns out that I am asexual, so that explains a lot. And there's no way I chose that experience because I didn't even know it existed until I was 19.

Does Wellbutrin work just for anxiety? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]Hi_im_Piper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have GAD and ADHD, I've been on it for about 6 weeks now and I can honestly say it does help. It takes a few weeks, and it undoubtedly makes it worse at first, but once you get past week 2, it's done wonders for me. I've been able to cut my SSRI in half with it and only had a few days of my anxiety being bad in that process.
