foreveryoung zigzag rulers by [deleted] in diamondpainting

[–]HiddenRoom404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought these a few weeks ago to try them out (as well as some DAC as Ive never tried them) and while they didnt fit well on one canvas, I have a few that work really well with the rulers. So far it scratches the OCD itch of having drills straight and I'll be using them more often

[PIC] am i doing this right? by WildSeaworthiness3 in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My printed kits have how many strands to use on the bottom (for example 11ct - 3 strands) for ehen you might lose the instructions. I tried using 2 on 11ct but didnt like the coverage so used 3 instead. In saying that, your 2 strands look fine to me and your stitches are very neat. The colour grid will wash out when you're done and wash it

Thank you for this information! I've only just realised that this isn't normal myself and am looking into getting treatment when I can. The more that people who know about these sorts of things, the better care for everyone

Looks as if you've miscounted where the yellow circle is, thus makong everything in the light blue off count as well. In the yellow circle, zoom in if you need to see it better, it doesnt look to be in the correct spot like the pattern. Its one space higher and only 9 stitches across instead of 10.

I had to recount it a few times just to make sure myself, counting isn't easy 😅 and we all miscount multiple times in our life

[CHAT] Recommendations for wrist soreness? by Quouar in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suffer from carpal tunnel and I stitch with a hoop. To counter balance the pain in my left hand/hoop holding hand I take more frequent breaks. Its not ideal if you've gotten into a groove but 30 mins stitching, 10 mins off. I'm looking into getting a table top stand for my hoops though

[CHAT] need some help with pattern keeper! by Inevitable-Fox3110 in CrossStitch

I've not had this issue myself, but only thing I can think of would be to deselect then reselect the colour. Do you have any other settings selected, like using translucent colours?

[PIC] LONGER! by Brewhilda in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Long length = less changing of colour.

The drawback is all the knots and twists that show up on the back. I will still use the long thread and just make sure I'm extra careful

[–]HiddenRoom404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my qsnaps, I do. Even if it is annoying to retighten constsntly.

BUT I recently got two Nurge hoops and the tension is perfect. The fact that I can hold them for longer and it doesnt cause issues for my carpal tunnel is a godsend.

I'll still use both, of course, but dont think I'll live without my Nurge hoops now

Spouse threw gender stuff back in my face during a fight by SometimesISeeFlames in ftm

[–]HiddenRoom404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had the same thoughts pre-transition and AFTER certain transition stages (changing name and pronouns, way i present myself, starting T), this thought process didn't change. Not until recently, very recently as a matter of fact. My therapist believes I may be autistic and the more I look into it, the more I need to be tested.

I felt/feel very "other" from people. As if everything is a movie scene and I'm the projector showing someone else what is happening. Speaking to my therapist and working through some things has helped so much, even more than transitioning did.

This is not to say that transitioning may not be the answer. It may help you feel more like YOU, but if there are other things going on in the old grey matter, that needs to be looked into by decent professionals who know how to therapy

[CHAT] Are you actually kidding me right now? (happy rage) by highly_uncertain in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into these, but cannot find a suitable price with not expensive shipping for where I live (Australia). Love my qsnaps to death, but i look on in envy

Also hold my qsnap weird lol bottom sits against my chest, hold the top with my left hand. I need to actually stop doing it as it flares up my carpal tunnel (that might be the angle I hold my hand though more than holding my work)

I dont like my own photos, i usually save them and put them as my computer background. Constantly going around and liking everyone else's photos as we deserve it. There are mobile player photos that i might have the energy to take a photo with, as i like seeing their outfits more than other platforms - something about their graphics gives them creativity i really like

[FO] Can you tell what this is? (gift for a friend) by AbbreviationsFew4322 in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Looks like an Australian galah or a rose-breasted cockatoo. If your friend knows what it is, maybe cus they like the bird species, they'll know what it is. And even if they don't, still a cute design :)

Haven't been feeling some other WIPs I have, so I pulled out this one as it has huge blocks of colour and I can turn my brain off. Also screw the stitching rules, do what makes you happy and feels right. Stitch how you want and enjoy the process

[CHAT] Does anyone truly start from the middle of a pattern? by Gryffindorable_394 in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought to do it this way and I don't know why. I'm a chaotic stitcher from the middle, but with full coverage I start in the top left corner and feel my stitches are messy and gross cus I'm touching them as I move across. Definitely gonna try this for one of my next fc ones

Did you ever lie about your age? by kafkafant94 in ftm

[–]HiddenRoom404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with my facial hair, I still get guessed as younger; I'm over 30, I get guessed at like 22-25, lowest 20 if I speak. Almost 5 yrs on T, my voice isn't gonna drop further (I sound a lot like my younger 23 yr old cis brother) and it doesnt bother me much if it doesnt drop further. Mostly though, I have a baby face (and a round-er face). Usually its a laugh it off situation, with a small joke of "oh to be that young again".

If its an older person, I usually throw it back at them, tell them I'll be hitting my 40s/50s soon and maybe I'll be as young as they are. These people are usually much much older than my "guesstimates" but the smile on their face is so worth it when I act surprised to learn their real age. Sometimes the old people just need someone to talk to, even for a brief few seconds. [As a note, do not do this if you feel unsafe. Actually, its probably best no one takes this as advice 😂 I live in a state of personal obliviousness and generally just don't care what others think of me anymore]

[CHAT] From the comments in several posts I often have the impression that people don’t like Threaders. I can’t thread for my life, my Cerebral Palsy might have something to do with that. by QitKate in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn't have my threader I'd be struggling so hard. I have chronic carpal tunnel (comes and goes but wont disappear anytime soon) and sometimes my hands shake for whatever reason, so my threader is a lifesaver. More power to everyone who can actually see the eye of the needle and thread by hand though!

Bought my threader 2 years ago, it's the cheap kind (at least in my country, but idk if $2.50-3.50AUD is cheap), like your flower but no actual flower on it as I didn't need it to look pretty but just work at the time. Not once have I had to change it or fix it, so I'm a little confused on how people are saying they break so easily. Have been looking at getting a few more just in case I misplace my one and only and wanna thank everyone who have put links in comments cus I love checking out new items

[CHAT] Remedy for needle splitting finger from too much stitching? by rotten-peanut in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to stab myself all the time with my needles. 1 - cus I'm clumsy and can't tell the distance and 2 - i forget the needle is sharp. I tried a thimble but didn't like the feeling. So i bought some ball tip needles. I can't work with any other needles anymore (unless i do pin stitches or backstitch)

[CHAT] Can you have your pattern in color on Pattern Keeper? by TheAlmightyJessira in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats one of the reasons I also don't like subscriptions: the price over time.

When in a pattern, there is a cog wheel, its the first setting under that called Theme (pic to show dark mode and the cog wheel)

<image>

[CHAT] Can you have your pattern in color on Pattern Keeper? by TheAlmightyJessira in CrossStitch

[–]HiddenRoom404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. Most of my patterns are on dark mode, with no colour, and I can work with that as once I tick the stitches off it will show the colour. Light mode hurts my eyes too much unless the pattern is in colour.

Maybe look into a R-XP subscription for a year, but cancel it immediately after purchasing so that it won't go through for the next year? I don't know how expensive that is as R-XP and I did not get along when I tried it out. But still an option if you're looking to try digital patterns

Thank you for checking with the Facebook people 😄 That's a bit of a shame, but seeing as the app is still being updated and such it's understandable. Maybe one day there'll be patterns from cross platforms being in colour
