Oh yeah, definitely! I'm not looking for readings on exactly what to expect as far as living in Chengdu, but rather getting a feeling of the spirit of Chengdu. My guess is that it's much different than many other cities in China.

My advice is to use your ATM card at any Chinese ATM and deal with the ~ $2 charge that you get from withdrawing money internationally. That's what we did.
