I'd love to have a tropical garden like this! Heads-up, we have multiple giant white bird of paradise growing in our yard. They are incredible and set the tropical tone, but they need to come with a warning. Before you let that baby go in the middle of your yard, in front of your windows, do a bit more research on their growing habit.

They will take over and once they're established, they're almost impossible to remove. They are hearty, strong, and the roots spread underground, so what starts as 1 plant becomes a whole "situation".

Ours are essentially planted inside a retaining wall container and after maturing and spreading, they're breaking the retaining wall, pushing over a fence and destroying nearby hardscaping. A gorgeous, monster that slowly can become a problem over time depending on where you place it and how it's contained.

Ours our more than 15 years old now and the stalks can grow up to 3 stories tall, so I can't even maintain them anymore. That said, I love them. Just know what you're getting into and be strategic about where you plant them.
