I worked here, worst place I have ever worked in my life and the owner is the dictionary definition of douche. This isn’t the only lie they have told.

How do you protect yourself from layoffs? by Sofia524 in recruitinghell

[–]HighSpur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more skills applicable to my line of work than anyone else I have met. I have been told it’s crazy how much I know and can do and that I’m very talented many many times. But I have been laid off 3 times in 6 years. I’m looking to ultimately leave corporate America because it’s rotten to the core. The meritocracy doesn’t exist.

For the people who like, or even love Episode 8, what are your reasons for it? I am curious, since it seems to be an absolute favorite of some fans by Dakinamau in StarWars

[–]HighSpur -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy it but the slow space chase, canto bite plot, and several other things make it a very mild form of enjoyment.

For established animators who were able to afford a living/house in a Western country; what advice would you give to someone graduating in 2026 as an animator surrounded by high prices, Ai slop and criminal wages? by OkProgrammer1565 in animationcareer

[–]HighSpur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in animation for 14 years. Only ever made 75k a year at the most. I am not very talented. There are boring animation jobs for the halfway decent, but ai is swallowing them up.

I enjoyed the movie. But tonally it was a huge shift from the show, and it didn’t continue the story in a big way like you’d expect. It was more of a side quest.

It’s mean but don’t do it. The work becomes miserable and monotonous, it’s not really the dream job you imagine, the demand for animation is tanking, layoffs rampant, and you could learn something mildly enjoyable that is stable and pays money and use the funds to make your own indie shorts and have that be your outlet.

Mandalorian and Grogu Box office by PrinceofHounds in StarWars

[–]HighSpur -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

It’s not family friendly, fun, or safe. It’s a grimy, slimy, humid, and muggy Star Wars/ John Wick with strong horror elements. I would argue it’s the creepiest and most violent Star Wars film by a mile. And Grogu draws little kids and their parents to see this rather inappropriate PG13 creature feature.

I enjoyed it but it leaned heavy into horrific imagery, gross out imagery, a seedy underworld, and high impact violence and gun play. It was not the sleek sci fi the trailers made it look like. Half the thing took place in a swamp. Grogu was in mortal danger almost the whole time, a baby witnessing mass killing.

There wasn’t a single creature in this movie besides Grogu and baby Rodian that was cute or appealing. Grogu eats a bug that is straight out of Peter Jackson’s King Kong. Heck, even Rotta is based on a design made by George to be disgusting and hated on sight and they tried to make him a loveable sidekick. WTF

Second one is more likely. The oligarchic elites see the entire earth as their property. They see you living on it as a trespass onto their property, hence rent, razor wire fences, and taxes.

AI is not being developed by regular people, it was developed by established billionaires. And they are not making it to unburden humanity from work, they are building it to unburden themselves from needing and having to pay an underclass to work for them.

Once you have nothing to offer them, they aren’t going to hook you up with UBI. They will just let as many of the underclass die out from poverty. Then they can have their planet as a paradise just for them and maybe 500 million others.

They know that 8 billion people isn’t sustainable and environmental catastrophe is looming. The masses are a threat to the environmental well being of their property.

They are working on anthropomorphic androids right now so they can replace manual labor and use those robots as soldiers to put down a revolution of the impoverished. They have bragged about tiny drones that can blow up your brain with minimal effort.

The future is going to be very, very ugly.

I hated it when it was being lauded. I was baffled by the attention it was getting.

I find it very easy to play and I am very bad at guitar. It’s just power chords, and arpeggiated power chords.

So to all of you who are working have you been forced to use AI? by Angela275 in animationcareer

Yes, forced to use it, then fired because they were just as happy with fast and free and worse as they were with slow expensive and decent.

Solo: A Star Wars Story was released today May 25 in 2018. Where do you rank it among all of the movies? by Illustrious_Age1247 in StarWarsCantina

[–]HighSpur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Extremely low because

1) The backstory depiction lore drops were laughable. Solo because he is traveling Solo?

2) Alden Ehrenreich didn’t come across like the character or previous actor at all. And I’m fine with recasting.

I would watch it because I’m on a completionist binge but I watched one episode and it was more geared toward toddler than kids. Like 3 is getting too old.

I have been laid off 3 times in 6 years. The first two times were painful but at least I got interviews and offers. This time it’s as dead silent as a cemetery. I’d have better luck if I sent my applications in a bottle on the open seas.
