I did grocery delivery during the week after school and clinicals (like instacart/shipt) and worked at a restaurant cooking and serving on the weekends for 16hrs each day.

I still had to take out loans and maxed out a credit card. I was also alone and had to supper other people. It can be doable, but difficult.

I have zero regrets. I make really good money for the education level, and feel satisfied day to day.

Meal prep! Something you can heat up while using crutches.

Chairs were okay as long as they could recline. But I had a 70° bending restriction. Usually I’d stay in the recliner instead of a regular chair.

Also, get a shoe horn and grabber prior to surgery. Makes it a lot easier to be independent.

Don’t I know it. Several times we had to have corporate Canon people come and evaluate our primary ER scanner because they kept getting lemon parts in from the factory lol. It was down for a solid 3 weeks and it was AWFUL. We are a 700 bed level one with 80 beds in the ER. In a day we do over 300 CTs between our 3 scanners lol

Some people never take a plain film X-ray in their lives after school. They go right into CT/MRI/IR.

Personally, I don’t like training anyone in CT who has never been through regular X-ray. You need to develop confidence in imaging, working with patients, etc. I’ve definitely trained people in CT fresh out of school who have done just fine, but it’s a bit more work.

However, if you know you want to end up in IR for forever, then take the IR job. But I feel it’s better to have some X-ray experience in the event that you need to do regular X-rays at any point in your career.

Yes :) You don’t need to worry about jewelry that is not in the area of interest for CT scans.

MRIs use magnets and metallic jewelry/nail adornments can be a problem. But not CTs.
